We have a Bunn VPR coffee maker and the problem that we are having is that after we plug it in and the water temp heats up it starts to boil up and it steams and spits out of the jet. Is there a fix for this???
Unplug the machine and remove the top. You will find a little box with a knob or a "T" on it, this is the thermostat. Just turn it down a little, put the top back on and plug it back it.
Is the tank of the machine full? If it isn't or you are not sure, pour in a pot of cold water (with a pot under the brew basket to catch the excess water). You can speed up testing of the temp by pouring in cold water after you turn down the thermostat. The thermostat may very well be bad. They run about $25 and you should be able to find one at a local restaurant appliance repair shop or we can get one for you.

I have turned it down a little at a time and waited each time for the tank to cool down. I would then plug it back in and test it again, after 15 minutes it will sound like the water is boiling in the tank and it would steam out the water fill and out the spray nozzle as well as drip from the spray nozzle. Could the thermostat be defective? Is there a way to test it? Is it an expensive part? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated....
