Keys don't work at all

I have the Micrsoft wireless keyboard, model 1044, and bought it for use with windows mce box. I have the standard mce ir port that comes w/ the remote. However, while the special keys on the keyboard work fine (Start, My Videos, etc.), none of the qwerty keys work. How come? I've got Itellipoint 5.5 software installed, and I chose "wireless media keyboard" during installation, since this model doesn't have any real model name, just the number. Am I stuck? Is there any way to enable the qwerty keys on this keyboard to work with mce 2005?

It has new batteries and all of the Windows media buttons work fine. It's just the qwerty keyboard. I think many many others have had this problem. :(

Make sure the wireless is working fine and has good batteries in them. Try reinstalling it and see if all lights go on the keyboard. If not there might be an interferance in the system and the keys are not computing well. Try number lock and caps lock

I have just bought a second hand Compaq 5185 keyboard and I would like to know how to configure the special top buttons. Some work, others don't.

Certain models of HP desktop computer come with an "Internet Keyboard" packaged in with the other equipment. This Internet Keyboard differs from a regular keyboard in that it has a series of buttons along the sides that allow you to do things like open your Web browser with the tap of a button. You can reassign the actions to these keys and reprogram it away from its default settings using your Control Panel.

Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "Keyboard." Click the "Hardware" tab, then click the "Properties" button. Click the listing for the Internet keyboard key you want to change. In the "Target" box, select the program you want that key to open. Click "Apply." The specified key will now open the specified program. Repeat this step for all of the other keys on your Internet keyboard that you want to configure.

Wich port do I plug the keyboard into, its a mac G3

If the Dell keyboard is a USB keyboard you can use it with a Mac. Just plug it into one of the Mac's USB ports. The keys are different (the Dell doesn't have the special Mac symbols so you'll have to get used to which keys do what) but it will work. (In fact I'm using a generic USB keyboard on my eMac here at work.)

If the Dell keyboard is a standard PS/2 style round plug you're out of luck. There's no place to plug in that style keyboard on a Mac.

Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000 v 1.0 volume keys not working

On 32-bit machines: Use the windows search feature to find "hidserv.dll." Once located, copy the file and paste it into the %systemroot%\system32\ directory. Open the "Run" dialog box by keying the windows + R. Type "services.msc" and hit enter. Locate the HID Input Service. Right click and click "start." This should solve the issue!!

All Keys do not work on keyboard with KVM switch

GCS632U is designed to work with standard USB keyboard an mouse only. You have to make sure that you are not using any type of adapter such as PS/2 to USB adapter. To further isolate the problem, please follow the steps below:

1. Connect the USB keybord directly to th computer to make sure that the keyboard is working properly.

2. Make sure that the keyboard is connected to the keyboard port on your KVM switch. You may take a look under neath this GCS632U (near the USB ports) and you will see an icon where to connect the keyboar and mouse.

3. If you're still gettings the same problem, Try power cycling this kvm switch by disconnecting if from the computers and disconnect also the keyboard and mouse from the KVM switch and leave them disconnected for a minute or two.

4. Reconnect everything after two minutes and then reboot the two computers.

5. If same problem exist, try using different USB keyboard.

NOTE: This KVM swith does not work correctly with wireless, gaming and smart keyboards because it's designed to work with standrd USB keyboard only.

My wireless remote is not connected to my computer

Are you running the MCE version of XP and is it installed? Look for c:\Windows\eHome directory. If you find that directory, then you should have MCE installed and running. If not, you need to get and install the MCE version of XP. Then look here for further information to getting your remote to work with the MCE.
