I purchased a MTX TC2002 amp and wired it.It works great when using just the radio. When I change the source to CD, the amp shuts off.Any idea why?
Thanks,
James
you hooked it to the antenna power source. you need to hook it to the remote output from you unit.you hooked it to the antenna power source. you need to hook it to the remote output from you unit.

sounds like you connected the amp turn on lead to the power antenna wire coming from the deck, so the amp turns on when you have the radio on, but turns off when playing cds. you need to connect the amp turn on lead to the amp remote wire.
I fixed the sound problem with tech support from Kenwood. I had the blue wire from the Kenwood which is the antennae turn on wired to the amp turn on for the vehicle (2001 Blazer with Bose factory stereo). This is how I was told to wire it from the installation tech where I purchased the wiring harness. The tuning played fine because the Bose amp turned on when I played the tuner but when I played the cd or aux the amp turned off, thus no sound. The kenwood tech toldd me to wire the blue/white wire to the amp turn on for the vehicle so the amp would be on when ever power to the Kenwood was on. I rewired this way and everything works great now.
The Alpine has two tigger wires when it turns on. One is an AMP TURN ON wire (blue/white) and a PWR ANT wire (blue) and that wire only comes on when using the radio or an optional HD radio unit ... When it was installed/connected . someone hooked your amp turn on wires for your "full range amps" to the PWR ANT wire. And the sub amp trigger is either hooked correctly to the AMP TURN ON WIRE or somewhere else, it probably shouldn't be... Check it. Amp triggers should all be to the blue/white wire from your alpine. Warning: Alpine trigger wires, are very easy to mess up they supply a very limited amount of power.
have you fixed it yet? if not try this. your car probably has factory amplified speakers. hook up the remote wire AND the power antenna wire to the blue factory amp wire and it should work just fine
the amp have an input harness? those can go bad, or maybe line level inputs are loose. If its not just a loose connection on one of the amps inputs (speaker, line, or power) leading to the circuit board( which could easily be soldered back to the corcuit board), than your looking at an integrated circuit problem- not easy to fix.
Good question BUT, not much information to go on. "Won't Work" is a bit generic so how about asking if the head unit's display works? Do you have an additional amp connected? Does the amp power up? Does the head unit accept and play CDs? Does the radio tune?
Please "fill in the answers" and we'll go from there. Thanks for your question
This is a common mistake. This problem indicates that you are using the solid blue wire from the head unit to the remote turn-on on the amp. This is a power antenna wire that only receives power when on FM radio. You need to replace this with the Blue & White wire from the head unit (power control wire) to your remote turn-on on your amp. This should solve your issue.
you hooked it to the antenna power source. you need to hook it to the remote output from you unit.
