Blocked carb on mantis 2 stroke tiller

I have a problem with my tiller running at speed which is due to a blockage in the carb due to leaving fuel in over winter. Any tips on dissolving the blockage. I have tried carb cleaner

SOURCE: mantis tiller 2 cycle seemed as if it was running out of gas

Check fuel filter and lines, if thay are good I would get a carb kit and set the adjustment screws at 1 turn out from lightley seated to start. Don't lean high speed screw too much.
You might check muffler & cylinder port for carbon first.

SOURCE: Mantis 2-stroke tiller won't start

This could be one of several problems...
• Last year's fuel. Get some fresh gas.
• Every 2-stroke needs a new spark plug each year... you know what that means.
• Clogged carb jets due to storing the tiller over the winter with fuel in the system. Never, ever do that. Now you'll need to pull the carb apart and clean it. Most of the orifices are so tiny you can't see them. Good luck.
• Engine is so old the crankshaft seals have hardened with age. This is one reason no 2-stroke lasts longer than about 8 years. If the seals are shot, then it will cost more to fix than a new one costs. Time to toss it.

SOURCE: My 2 stroke mantis tiller will not prime.no fuel

I had the same problem, get a rebuild kit. It sounds like the diaphram is shot. Also make sure the prime bulb doesn't have any holes or cracks, the engine won't run if it does

SOURCE: MANTIS WILL NOT IDLE

I had the same problem. I adjusted the throttle stop IN until I got an idle without touching the throttle.

Mantis tiller 7222e

Hi anon, if it's starting your 2/3rds of the way there. You have fuel and spark. Try and clean the air filter first and if that fails to keep it running then check that the choke isn't staying out. If all thats ok then it may be the carb gaskets.

Mantis only runs with choke half on.

Try fuel with 30% injector cleaner (or 25% auto transmission fluid) Something is clogging the fuel route.

Mantis tiller starts but will not stay running

Carburetor problem. Two stroke engines use oil mixed with gas. Old fuel or setting over the winter will cause varnish and sludge in the Carburetor. Start by buying a can of carburetor cleaner and mixing a new can of fuel.
1) Dump the old fuel and check replace it with new.
2) Remove the air cleaner.
3) Pump the prime bulb 3 or 4 times, set the choke, spray the insides of the carb with the cleaner and then try and start it . It should sputter and run for a few second but chances are it will take a few sprays to clean the jets

Primer bulb will not ciphon fuel to carb

Two cycle engines don't prime the same way that 4 cycles do. A 4 cycle engine shoots fuel into the intake, and a two-stroke like what you have, pressurizes the carburetor and removes air. When you press it, it should harden, and then will slowly let fuel bypass the carb and go back into the fuel tank. Because of the ports and the design of a 2 stroke, shooting fuel into the intake would be bad for the engine.

How do you start a 2 stroke Mantis? I lost the book. Will

first, push the primer bulb a few times to get fuel circulated and air out of the carb. Turn on the switch, put the choke on full. Pull the rope until you hear it fire. Then put it on half choke. Pull the rope; it should fire within a few pulls, and should run. Take the choke the rest of the way off once it's running well. This is a standard starting procedure that works well for every kind of 2-stroke engine used in the garden.
