Has new battery and fully charged but doesnt hold the charge, it just dies, speedo stops working then lights and then once its turned off, it work start again until you have charged the battery, we have had the battery tested and its a strong battery, it seems like the bike not putting power back to the battery, we have no expenience of bikes and do not what to start puuling it about, just if any one has any suggests on what this could b, whether its worth fixing or scrapping??? many thanks in advance
Bike has magneito (thats spelled wrong ) On line youtube veido shows how to fix that.
If the battery is fully charged and not holding charge, then it is not fully charged...so, the battery is not holding a charge. Replace the battery, then take a multimeter and check to see if the charging system is charging the battery when the bike is running. If the battery is holding a charge but the charging system is malfunctioning then when you connect the multimeter to the battery you will see that the battery is not being charged should put out close to 14v if you have a 12v battery what kind of bike is this MBK ?
SOURCE: electric start dont work
You probably have a bad switch
First look to se if there are any fuses
also see if horn works
FIX for determining if starter works
to find out take jumper cables and put the red cable on the plus side of the battery and the black on the minus side of battery(ground)
Put the black lead(ground ) on the frame of the bike near starter and touch the red to the starter lead( you may have to peel back rubber boot over starter nut
when you touch the starter nut it will spark and should spin over
if it does then you need to remove the screw assembly that holds the starter button and remove and clean it out with electronic cleaner (you may have to replace it if so go to honda shop and order new one
Good luck

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, pls try recharging the battery again. Remove the connector to the voltage regulator. Start/run the bike. If it lasts more than "3-5 minutes" then you have just confirmed a defective regulator. The voltage regulator would look something like below image.
This page may give you additional insight.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Use the voltmeter to check the battery while you are trying to start the bike. If it drops below 10v the battery is bad. If it stays at 12v or more look for a loose cable or poor ground.
SOURCE: bad battery
Don't rely on on whether the bike will start at a gas station to determine if the charging system is working. Get the multimeter out and do a proper test. Should be getting about 14.5 volts @ around 3K RPM. It's too easy of a test to to just skip. If it is charging then start looking for something else. Was the new battery properly charged to begin with? Loose battery connection? I suppose the GPS could be too much but you said that it was dying last november, so I would suspect something else. P.S. you need a properly charged battery to get an accurate reading for the charging test.

From your explanation it sure sounds electricals, but surprising to hve a total failure to the electricals and thn it reappears after 30seconds!
Best would be to go through the wiring especially frm the battery onwards, the fuse box .
Since it is totally disappearing it should be a fault to those main wires could be lose connections somewhere!.
Hope this helps.
