Hi,
Initially, pls check D854 on the Power Supply/Logic board. It is a dual diode. If you would prefer board replacement rather than component level repair, this might be of help. This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.
This is of course in addition to checking the usual, power cord, fuse, outlet etc.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

mrjk65, If monitor still has bright, crisp images displayed on the LCD panel your monitor could be worth saving! Unplug unit from wall outlet and plug it back in! If same problem occurs then most likely problem could be a DC voltage is slightly "out of spec" or a settings panel push switch may have failed. My guess is that when STRANGE out of the BLUE things start to happen for no reason, I would suspect the "switch-mode-power-supply" to be the item at FAULT. Visit YOUTUBE for vids of "LCD monitor disassembly" , "LCD monitor repair" . You will be glad you did. Also try www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm , www.lcdparts.net , www.badcaps.net for more info. hope this helps. Bye for now. 12fixlouie.

this is a common problem with the capacitor, try opening your monitor and see if there is a capacitor swalow like gonna blow... the capacitor has a form like a AA battery... if changing the capacitor the problem persist maybe is a problem with the board and you need to search if the board have continous power....
SOURCE: I have a Planar 1910(Black)
It has white screen becuase it may not be getting the 5vdc from the logic board to the T-CON board or the board has blown fuse.
Please see http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LCD%20panel/
Also look to see if power supply/logic bd had any bad caps also.
Testimonial: "Thanks! It was the TCON that was the problem. I had to reconnect it, it was not inserted all the way in."
