How to disassemble Black & Decker MX50 PowerPro Mixer

Regarding worn gears in cheapo Made in China mixers: The left gear wears symetrically different from the right due to torque and rideout. A temporary fix involves switching (juxtaposing) them left into right, vice-versa. Be sure to observe the position of the beater key slots beforehand to ensure that the beaters won't interfere with each other after reassembly. One is usually 45 degrees advanced from the other I / . You might have to remember that the beaters go in opposite of the way they used to.

To remove the upper part from lower part, the trick is to remove the " eject" button. Once all the handle is free, try to back off the eject button, then you'll see it will get loose from it's shoulders, now you can pull it up.

I have the same "jamming beater" problem. I was able to get the mixer apart following the advice in Solution #1 (thanks). There is no need to separate the handle, unless it lets the "power boost" button move to the back of the mixer (thus sliding it off the referrenced micro switch). I was able to pry it until it came off the switch, at which point the mixer fell apart in my hands.

I believe the "jamming beater" problem is caused by one or both of the large white gears being worn down so that it or they no longer engage the gray worm gear. If one white gear fails, the other beater turns until the beaters jam. I'm now looking for replacement gears, but I imagine it's cheaper to just replace the mixer.

You can remove the handle-back by gently prying the rear clips down and away. But the problem is the power boost button; it has a fork that goes down the left side and snaps over a micro-switch. You need to get that off since there is not room for all 3 buttons (eject, variable speed, and boost) to slide through the handle. A small probe inserted from the top and pushing on the left side to the rear might do it. Or just pry the boost switch upwards; that's how I got mine apart. My problem was the boost microswitch was bad and provided a poor connection. As a result, the beater only ran intermittently on regular switch positions. I solved it by bypassing the boost micro switch. The beater now only runs on the regular speeds but that's fine by me.
