In my professional opinion, it sounds like you have a shorted relay or other defective component on your control circuit board, which is actually made by Samsung. We regularly repair these control panel assemblies nationwide for $32.50, so the problem can certainly be fixed economically. Looking at typical microwave wiring shows it has to be the cooking relay or a device that drives that relay. Since it stops when you open the door, we can say the door switches are certainly doing their job.

I have a Samsung microwave oven (model SMH1816S/XAC). I went to use the oven and noticed that there as a lot of heat coming from it (typically it's very cool in the oven). The glass plate and the walls in the oven were quite hot. The power was shut-off and I can not revive it by unplugging and replugging it back in.
I assume that it has over-heated and tripped it's fuse or it is waiting for the temperature to drop in the oven before it will allow itself to be turned back on.
My question is: Why was it so hot when it was not in use? It has never done that before and that worries me. Does this sound like something that can be easily fixed?
Thanks
I have a Samsung Microwave (Model: SMH1816S/XAC). New within a year and a half.
I went to use it today and noticed a lot of heat coming from the oven. When I opened the door I noticed the glass plate and the walls of the over were quite hot. The power had been automatically shut off. The odd part was that the oven had not been used before hand and that worries me.
I assume the oven has over-heated and automatically shut itself off. My Question is: Why would the oven have overheated like this it hadn't been turned on?
Thanks for your help.
