  • Anonymous Mar 23, 2014

I have a Samsung LN40B500P3FXZA with loose HDMI ports in the back. Now, when I try to connect a device with an HDMI cable, there's either no image or the TV displays "Mode Not Supported". What should I do to fix this?

Set has a shutdown or failsafe circuit:

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have tobuy and try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.

Location of headphone jack on samsung samsung ln40b500p3fxza

This TV does not have a headphone jack. It only has a optical digital audio output, Toslink. To connect this to most headphones, you'll need a digital to analog audio converter. You'll need to provide the cables (optical digital audio, RCA (M/M) to 3.5 mm (F) adapter). For some headphones, you can use just RCA audio cables or RCA (M/M) to 3.5 mm (M) audio cable. Here is one converter: https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optical-Analog-audio-converter/dp/B004C4WPXA .

The documentation for the LN40B500P3FXZA is available here: https://www.samsung.com/ca/support/model/LN40B500P3FXZA/ . See page 4 of the User Guide for the back panel connections. The current link to this guide is http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=UNI_CA&CttFileID=2430065&CDCttType=UM&ModelType=N&ModelName=LN40B500P3F&VPath=UM/201104/20110426143440007/BN68-01883Q-00L03-110426.pdf&OriginYN=N .

Samsung LN55C650 shut down; won't come back on again!

Someone has to open the set and look first at the power supply--if you are not able to do that consider having a shop look at the set.

THere is no electricity in the bedrooms and I can't get them back on?

If the circuit breaker will not reset - all the way off and then back on with a click sound. Then something you have plugged into the outlets in those rooms is probably shorted causing an over current condition. If the circuit breaker won't reset, shut off all lights and then unplug EVERYTHING and then see if it will reset. If it does, then replug everything one at a time until the electricity goes off again, that is the bad apple. But if it won't reset, then your breaker is probably bad. Yes, they do go bad, just infrequently.

I have a intermatic T104m pool timer. The clock works but it doesn't shut off. I have to flip the breaker to shut it down. The manual override switch flips back and forth but nothing happens. ...

Hi,
If you are flipping it off manually and it still won't shut off then the contacts are burnt together internally.
This means that you need to change this timer out....
If you switch it with the same timer you will not need to change the whole box... the old board will snap out and the new board will just snap in the old box, making the change out much more simple.

Campbell Hausfeld 13 gal air copressor, when I trun it on it won't build up max pressure and won't shut-off One of the gauges reads 40 PSI the other reads 60 PSI.

Your problem is most likely because of damage to the valve plate or piston & cylinder. If one or both of these are not working properly you'll get partial pressure and the unit won't turn off because the tank never comes up to full pressure. Things to check for are damage to the reeds on the valve plate, they could be bent from overheating or broken from use or wear or damage to the piston seal which can cause damage to the cylinder. If any of these aren't sealing properly the air pressure will come up to a point where the air leaks out faster than it goes into the tank. Without your particular model number I don't know which parts to recommend but if you contact Campbell Hausfeld they'll help you get the right parts.
