I lost my wall charger about a month ago. My camera has been sitting in my room, dead, for that long, also. I needed to charge my camera for an important event, so I tried to use my USB cord. I plugged it into my computer, nothing. I tried a couple other USB ports to see if the first one wasnt working, but nothing has happened.. HELP!
Not all cameras charge from the USB cord. Also there are some USB cords for data, some for charging.

try useing it on another computer you dont have to install sony software to use the camera on another computer if it dose work that tells you that its prob your USB port.

have you ever tried using another battery? you should always have a spare battery. most probable cause for this is the battery and we will only know if the cause is the battery when you try another battery.

Try replacing the data cable.
Try replacing the Pro Duo Memory stick, or use a card reader to test the memory card.
Test the camera on a different USB port, and then on a different computer.
This can tell you if the problem is the computer or the camera.
If the problem is the camera , then the USB data port may be defective.
If the problem is computer, try doing a system restore to a date before problem started.
If that does not help you may need to reinstall the system.
