All you need is the printers Drivers ( Software )
Go To Lexmarks Site/ products/ Support or downloads.
Locate, drivers et,c.
Should be good to Go.

Yes, you can shut down the software and it's 'printer management' features and just use the driver to print with.
Go to the little icons next to your system clock, and you should find a
Lexmark Solution Center (or whatever, I have a different one, the 2300)
that you can close.
You can even uninstall the software if it's that bad; doing so won't
uninstall the driver you need to print with, just the management
software, which you've apparently outgrown.

1. Try another USB cable.
2. See if you can detect it when you search for new printers in the printers folder.
3. Reinstall the printer software.

Not sure witch windows you have so I put the XP and Vista just click on the one you need.
You can download a driver from my website then you can use the driver to set your printer up.
Just click on this link and it will download for you, and it is best to save it on your desktop so you can find it.
This is for the Lexmark-Z1300 XP and Vista.
