I have a pair of the RT1000I speakers and one of them all of a sudden started making this obnoxious cycling "grunt" type noise. Its about like every second...grunt...grunt...grunt. It must be in the amp because I get speaker sound but no sub sound. Does this mean the amp is blown?
A quick test, change the speaker wires between the speakers, if the sound goes over to the other speaker the problem is in the amp. But if the problem stays with the same speaker tower the problem will be in one of the speakers in the tower. since you said you get no sub sound I suspect ithe problem is not the amp, but the sub speaker itself

Check your fan next to the compressor if it's running ,also check your evaporator fan if it's running. If both fans are running and you still have ice built-up then you may have a refrigerant leak
hmmm, could be in defrost cycle when that happens, when the defrost element warms up and the frost/ice drips it then makes sounds about how oftern do you hear the noise?
what kinda noise, sqeeling, or clunking, mite be sumthing small that made its way behind ajatator an is causeing noise..or one of the springs that hold it broke..sorry i dont no what kind of noise.....
the volume on the speakers are too high. try to put make the speakers the master volume(whatever device you plug in into your speakers make that device's volume go all the way up and then adjust the volume on the speakers to what ever volume you desire.had the same problem with my computer speakers
Don't think the difference of 18/22vdc would make the noise. Is the noise constant? maybe too close to another device like a microphone or a something that would give off radio waves. Cell phones and cordless telephones. wireless gateways/routers. Try moving speakers away from these types of devices.
I have the sam eproblem...another site I went to said it is ice build up on the fan. Unplug the frig for an hour (don't open the doors or everything will spoil) and then plug in...it may defrost a bit and allow the fan to turn freely.
