I've tried to record on a number of different blank DVDs, all having the DVD logo, DVD-R, DVD-RW.
When I insert the blank DVD I get a Disc Error message saying: Please eject the disc. Playback feature may not be available on this disc.
What's the best Blank DVD to record on and does the write speed (4X, 8X) and the capacity have any bearing?
I, too, have spent a fortune on blank DVDs, all with the correct symbol, and get the same error. I found one brand that recorded correctly but am now unable to find those same DVDs again and other brands with the same emblem don't record.I, too, have spent a fortune on blank DVDs, all with the correct symbol, and get the same error. Talked ad naseum with people at manuf. company in several countries (1-800-). First they told me I might be using the wrong speed (16x) instead of a slower??? speed. I went out and bought a 4x. Same problem. Then another "service" lady told me that this machine "does not record DVDs." I told her that is wrong. She then told me to call Sears.
They (Sears) walked me through every I did for two days, then said I must have a lemon. Fortunately, I bought the 5 year, in house warranty. But they can't come for 2 weeks!

since sears stores here in chicago went out of business last year, you can buy the maxell dvd-rw (2x ) or (4X) on ebay from most black dvd sellers, i have not found any at walmart, best buy, micro center.since sears stores here in chicago went out of business last year, you can buy the maxell dvd-rw (2x ) or (4X) on ebay from most black dvd sellers, i have not found any at walmart, best buy, micro center.

Are you loading to play or to record? Commercial DVDs should play. DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.
Some DVD recorders don't like certain types of media. Does this happen with all blank dvd+rw disks or just with that specific brand? If it's that brand then you should just use a different one.
