Select a clean, flat work surface where you can perform your watch band adjustment. Put down a piece of felt to protect the face of your Casio. Turn on a lamp near your workspace to better illuminate the watch components with which you will be working.

Lay your Casio face down on the protective felt. Look for the small arrows on the back of some of the watch links; these arrows indicate the removable watch links and the direction their pins should be removed.

Locate the pin hole above the arrow on the removable watch links. Insert the tip of a watch pin removal tool, or push pin, into the pin hole. Apply pressure to the link pin, in the direction indicated by the arrow, to free the pin and remove the link. A pair of needle-nose watch or jewelry pliers can be used to help pull out stubborn link pins. Remove as many links as necessary for your watch to fit perfectly.

Reserve the links and link pins that you remove from your Casio Edifice watch. Store the removed watch components in a small, clear, plastic zipper bag. These components can be used when repairing or expanding your Casio watch band.

If the pin keeps coming out, then it seems likely that it is bent.

This can happen if the watch is fastened very tightly and your hand bends back until it strains the pin.

I suggest that you go to a jeweler and have a new one fitted.

I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same model watch, and it happened to me twice. The AQ-160 is the important part of the model number as far as replacement parts are concerned. The first time, I took it to the shop where I bought the watch, and they replaced the band, but it cost me $50. The second time, I looked up the Web for the master agent for Casio in Australia, and they said I could buy the end piece, not the whole band, for $6. I found I could replace it quite easily myself by using a drawing pin to remove the spring pin that holds it together. A bit fiddly to reassemble but not too bad. In fact, I didn't wait for the new part to arrive, just used the unbroken end of the old band. So now I have a repaired band plus the old band and a new end piece, in case it ever happens again.

I really like this watch, but it is a pity the bands are so weak.

Take the watch with the broken watchband and place it on the table. With a ruler, measure the width of the broken band at the point where it is attached to the watch. Now, measure the total length of the watchband when it is in one piece and fits around your wrist. There will be a crease on the band where it is normally buckled.

Step 2 Go to the local store and select a band that you like. You should make sure that the width of the band at the point of attachment to the watch is the same as the old band. Also make sure that the new band will be long enough and not too long to fit your wrist. Purchase the band and return home to change the band.

Step 3 Clear a spot to work and make sure that there is a small towel covering the table top so that you can see anything that may drop or pop out during the process of changing the band.

Step 4 Use a magnifying glass to look at the point where one side of the band is attached to the watch. You will see a small pin connecting the band to the watch on either side of the band. Carefully use the jeweler's screwdriver to depress the spring loaded pin from the watch to the band and release it from the watch. When the tension on the spring pin is released it may pop out of the band and you will want to take care not to lose it. Repeat this process with the other half of the band.

Step 5 Take the new band and slip the spring pins into the small holes on the end of the band where it will attach to the watch. Working with one end at a time, slip one side into the pin hole in the watch body.

Step 6 Use the jeweler's screwdriver to depress the other side of the spring pin and guide it into the pin hole in the other side of the watch body. Repeat this process with the other half of the watchband and other spring pin. You now have a new band for your broken one.

I purchased a Casio Pathfinder solar/atomic watch, with compass, altimeter, barometer, thermometer, model 1200T-7WC (titanium).
Has the titanium band - on this particular band each link is somewhat waveshaped {i.e., there are 2 "arms" from the link making contact with the middle part of the link above (above meaning towards the watch body), and 1 arm fitting between the 2 arms of the next link down). Unlike described in the first solution, the pin is not split, but solid (doesn't look like a slotted screw on 1 end, so the solution at http://www.wikihow.com/Adjust-a-Casio-S-935L-Watch-Band is no help). Here's what to do if you have this band:

1. Note: before you start, be advised there is a tiny loose 1/8" part (sleeve) that will fall out as you pull the links apart, so work over an appropriate surface to "catch" it. Push pin (from the upper "arrow end) of one of the removeable links (those with the arrows on the backside) out of its hole with a fine poker (I used a 1/32" jeweler's screwdriver, an unbent paperclip would also work, just more likely to bend as you push pin out). This takes some force to do - in my case, after pushing, the pin projected out about 1/2 of it's length, I used needle-nosed pliers to gently pull it out the rest of the way). CAREFUL - once pin is removed and you pull the link away from the one above, a small (1/8") constriction sleeve should fall out of the center arm of the link above. SAVE THIS SLEEVE!

2. Using the same procedure, remove the pin from the bottom end of the link you're removing. again, SAVE THE SLEEVE.

3. to rejoin the band once the link is removed, look at the single/middle "arm" of the upper link, looking for the hole where the pin goes through. One side of the hole should be noticeably larger/wider than the other side - this is where you will place the SLEEVE - I used tweezers, or needle-nosed pliers will work - it will drop into hole. Keep this upright so that sleeve doesn't fall out, and slide the 2 arms of the lower link in place around the center arm.

4. Slide the pin you removed into one of the outer link arm holes - I found it easier if I started from below, pushing it into the center arm - it will stop when it reaches that 1/8" constriction sleeve. I set the extruded end on the pin on a magazine (i.e., slightly padded surface) and then pushed the top side of the band down, forcing the pin through the constriction sleeve and up into the upper arm hole, and Voila, your band is reconnected. The sleeve is important (without the sleeve in place, the pin will simply fall back out).
