Question about going digital in Feb 2009

The only thing I have read about with this model regarding digital is the Digital Noise Reduction which reduces static and ghosting. When the digital conversion takes place in February 2009, will I need a converter box? I currently use Comcast and don't have a digital package on that TV, Thanks for your help.

    This is directly from Comcast's website under their FAQ section:

    How do I know if I already have a digital TV (DTV)?

    Many digital television sets have labels that say "Integrated Digital Tuner," "Digital Tuner Built-In," "Digital Receiver," or "Digital Tuner," "DTV," "ATSC," or "HDTV" (High-Definition Television). If your TV has any of the above labels, you do not need a digital-to-analog converter box;

If you have Comcast you should be fine. The only TVs that need converter boxes are the old fashion ones with the bunny ear antennas.

Digital Conversion in Feb. 2009

It looks like you will need a HDTV tuner not a converter box. Here's the link to your manual.

No, unless you are receiving over cable or satellite. You will need a DTV converter box if you are using an antenna to receive Over The Air television signals. The Proscan has an analog only tuner, so the ATSC (digital) signals will not be visible.

Tv reception on handheld Sony Watchman in Feb 2009

The old Watchmans are analog. If plugged into a digital cable/dish system it will scan in UHF and find the working channel than can be conrolled by your digital remote control. As far as taking it out on its own and working off the external antenna...those days will be over. Sony will have to manufacture digital Watchmans.

Noise Reduction

This function reduces the noise that generated during long exposures. When shooting night scenes, shutter speeds become slower and noise tends to appear on images. When noise reduction is turned on the camera automatically reduces noise to produce clearer images. Since shooting time is approximately twice as long as usual, noise reduction is only activated when the shutter speed is slower than 1 second.
