SOURCE: I plugged in the wrong

If you've blown the DC/DC converter in the unit, the easiest way to get to the files is open up the unit and remove the hard disk inside and mount it into a PC - it's just a standard drive!

SOURCE: I HAVE MY MASTER 160Gb

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
(note after you have loaded the operating system you must go back and change the first boot device to your hard drive)
The BIOS is AMI. Under ADVANCED SETUP:
The options listed for 1st,2nd ,3rd Boot device include:
IDE-0 means Pri master
IDE-1 means Pri slave
IDE-2 means Sec master
IDE-3 means Sec slave

Master/Slave designation is determined by jumpers on IDE drives. Most drives have adequate markings on them to identify these jumper positions. If not marked clearly, you will need the manufacturer's data to determine that designation.
If you are curious about a working system just power-up in set-up mode (usually by depressing (f1-or-f2) during boot-up sequence, your system-bios will display this information for you.

Power to Seagate FreeAgent Drive is Unstable

You might be able to swap the drive to the other portable drive. Or, if you have a slot in your PC, put it in there. If it runs normally, the PS is shot (wouldn't be the first). Either get a new case with PS, or keep it in the PC. You can power it down when you're not using it.

It's also possible the drive is bad. Find the HDD diagnostic tool in your OS and check it out.

Have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 external hard drive that just quit working. It powers up, but the computer doesn't recognize it. Was told by someone that reader arm probably exploded. Can this fixed...

It's hard to diagnose your problem without more information but from what I can gather you should visit this site: http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=202271. It has steps for troubleshooting your drive and can help if fix it if you can. If you cannot fix it yourself, it also has instructions on how to send it back to Seagate for replacement. If it is in warranty you will only have to pay to ship it there.

Computer does not recognize Seagate is attached...need to open the Seagate case and check wiring.

Before you open it (and void your warranty), check to see if it works on another computer. If not the HD is most likely dead, and if you still want to open it up you will probably need a security bit set.

yes if the hard drive is not damage
you can use a external sata case to read your hard drive.
remove the casing off the seagate freeagent to get to the hard drive.
you need to get a 3.5" external sata case.
you can get one from newegg.com or at your local fry's
this is what i have
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153066&cm_re=thermaltake_sata-_-17-153-066-_-Product
