Formatting the Disk maybe solve it. But if the disk itself is working. Go to Start-> Run -> type "cmd" -> format F: then press "y" and another "y" if it asks you again if the system couldn't read the drive itself. Then this means that your storage on the MP3 Player (that shows as F on your computer) is now broken.

I own an omron HCG-801 and have taken several ecg readings but cannot figure out how to transfer them to the PC in a way they can be read ian McKinnon

Hi,
For copping the ecgs to your computer you need a SD card reader.
Please follow these instructions to copy data from the SD memory card to a PC.

1. Remove the SD card from the machine after switching off it.

2. Make sure the PC is equipped with an SD memory card port or connect a commercially available SD memory card reader/writer to your PC.

3. Create a new folder on your PC where you want to save a copy of the ECG data.

4. Insert the SD memory card in the card reader and browse to the SD memory card data

5. Select all files and copy them in the folder you have created earlier (step 2).

6. When copying is finished, remove the SD memory card.

For analysis ECGs that are copied to your PC, you need PC analysis software (providing databasing and printing tools). Normally the software CD comes with the machine. if you dont have the same you have to contact the manufacturer. Only through that software you will be able to read the ECGs in your pc.
If you need any more assistance from me feel free to contact through fixya.

I put the power on my pc, the monitor stays black, i push the power button on my monitor and the button goes green for a few seconds and then back to orange as if it is on standby mode. i can hear the pc...

The lights you see flashing are Diagnostic Lights. These tell you of a possible area to look into for the problem.

Lights 3, and 4 flashing green, mean a possible Ram Memory problem.

I would like you to view the free Owners Manual from Dell Support, in the event that you do not have one.

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dime521/en/index.htm

This PDF document can also be saved to your computer, thereby allowing you to copy it to a CD disk. If you are not aware of how to do this, and wish to, simply state so in a Comment.

(After you burn this PDF file to disk, you can remove it from your computer, freeing up more space on your harddrive)

Where it states Owners Manual, left-click on View to the right.

You may also be interested in viewing, (And copying), the Service Manual.

What I would suggest to start.

1) Computer off, unplug your computer from power.
Working on a table, open the computer case.
TOUCH the metal frame of the open computer case.
(Not shouting)

This action will relieve your body of Static electricity.
Your body carries Static. Static will fry out (Short Circuit) computer hardware components.
(Should you get up in the middle of working on your computer, and leave, upon your return Touch the metal frame again)

Remove all ram memory modules. (Ram Module = Ram 'stick')
Use a pencil eraser, and clean the gold plated contact pins on the bottom of the ram module.

This is a photo of a basic ram module,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Generic_DDR_Memory_%28Xytram%29.jpg

Here, you can see the gold plated contact pins I have referred to.

(Ram Memory used for the Dimension E521 Desktop PC, is DDR2 Sdram.
DDR2 Sdram has 240 contact pins. 120 on each side.

The photo is of DDR Sdram.
184 contact pins, 92 on each side)

If possible, it is preferred to hold the ram memory module by the body of the module, and refrain from touching the contact pins. The body of the ram memory module is covered by a see-through plastic.

Start at the top of each contact pin, and work down, using the eraser.
Remove the eraser dust with air, and reinstall.

If you have two ram modules, try inserting one at a time.
The ram slot closest to the Processor, is Ram Slot 1. (May be marked as DIMM 1 on the motherboard)

Ram memory should be installed in ram slot 1 first.
The Processor reads ram memory installed in ram slot 1 first.

In the Service Manual if you click on - Technical Overview in the main menu, then click on - System Board Components, you'll see where the Processor
is located, (2 - processor socket), and where the ram memory slots are, (3 - memory module connectors)

Removing and Installing Parts, located in the main menu also, will show, and tell you how to open the computer case, and how to remove, and install ram memory modules.

(Removing the computer cover. Memory)

Should you need more in-depth guidance of how to do the above, please state so in a Comment.
Should this not fix your problem, please state so in a Comment.

The led lights on back of computer read as follows YYGG, what do I do to repair.

Hi,

The error code YYGG is bad or faulty system memory.

You will have to open the side panel of the Dell, get yourself a clean, soft, dry paintbrush. Remove the system memory and clean the brass contacts and the slots free of any dust.

Once you have cleaned the memory and the slots re-seat the memory making sure it clips into place properly. Restart the computer and it should boot up.

Please post back if require anymore help.

Regards.

I cant boot up my computer(memory address line failure)

This is clearly a problem with the memory. You can try two things:

1) Remove and reseat the memory sticks (with the unit unplugged)
2) Swap the boards around. Windows is not very tolerant of errors in the lower portion of memory. Swapping around the boards will change the relationship of physical memory addresses to virtual addresses. At the very least, the memory swap may help to determine which memory stick is defective.

Please keep us posted.

I have a compaq presario sr1230nx and when i go to put in a ad card the light next to the slot blinks green and then the card cant be read. then the explorer crashes for about 20 seconds and then i tried...

The memory card reader on your computer may not be able to read memory cards over certain capacities (4 GB).
To use your higher capacity memory card without locking up the computer, do one of the following:
  • If you are using the card in a camera or other device, you can attach the device to the computer using a USB or FireWire cable. When connected, most devices appear in Windows as a Removable Disk and can be used in the same way as the card reader.
  • Purchase a USB memory card reading device that plugs into any open USB port. Make sure the USB device is capable of reading SDHC. These devices are fairly inexpensive and can be used in any computer that has a USB port.
If the card reader stops working after using Safely Remove Hardware, reset the cable connections and memory card firmware.

Memory card appears in My Computer but errors occur when writing or reading
If you are having problems reading and writing data to memory cards, use the following troubleshooting tips:
  1. Try a different memory card of the same type in the same slot. If the different memory card works, the card reader is good and the original memory card should be replaced.
  2. Some cards have a read/write security switch on the card. Make sure that switch is set to Write Enabled before attempting to write data to it.
  3. Make sure that the amount of data you attempted to store has not exceeded the capacity of the card.
  4. Inspect the ends of the memory cards for dirt or material closing a hole or spoiling a metal contact. Clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth and small amounts of isopropyl alcohol. Replace the memory card if necessary.
  5. Make sure the memory card is one of the supported types: CompactFlash (1, 2, and Microdrive), Memory Stick, MultiMedia, Secure Digital, or SmartMedia memory cards.
  6. Make sure the memory card is fully inserted into the slot.
Remove the memory card when the light is not flashing and shine a light into the empty slot. Are any small pins inside bent? Replace the memory card reader or have the computer serviced if a pin is touching another pin. Straighten slightly bent pins while the computer is off using the tip of a mechanical pencil.
  7. If errors persist replace the memory card.
