there are no drivers available Windows 98 or Windows Me,this operating system may not require a driver or in this case of older operating systems may no longer be supported. try upgrading your windows,THERE ARE DRIVERS FOR WINDOWS 2000, XP,VISTA. SORRY FOR THE BAD NEWS

If you are using windows, you would go to your start menu. Then select control panel. In the control panel, select the printers icon. Right click the MX700 icon and select printer preferences. This will now allow you to change the default settings.

Without the resetter it will continue to give error codes, holding the resume button for 5-10 seconds sometimes will turn off ink level reporting, but you either need the resetter or to purchase and install reset circuit boards on each cartridge you refill.

When that happens the purge assembly is not working right. Sounds like the tube for black cleaning and priming has come off.

Try leaving on same settings as normal paper, it may be over compensating.

I want to print black and white at times but can't seem to find a way to do this with the canon mp610 on my mac running safari.

You should be able to set it in your printer properties.

Select - Advanced - Printing defaults - Main - Check "Greyscale Printing".

You should be able to set the cartridge it uses when you print, as something like 'Print only black'. Fish around in the printer window when it comes up when it comes up. You may also be able to set this as a default in 'Properties' from the 'Printers' option in Windows, but then it will always try to do this, of course, which you may not want.

I had the same problem with one of these units. I had another one that worked great so I knew it should work. I called Canon and after some questions about the problem they sent me a replacement unit which works fine.
