I was looking to buy a Danby DDR5511R from Costco . But they don't say if the model has a drain plug for a hose. Can you help me.
Yess the DDR5511R has the drain hose connection inside the compartment where the water bucket sits. It is at the top right corner. You have to remove the water drawer to see it. At the right side of the unit (on the outside) is a small "door" that flips up so that you can feed a hose throught to the threaded outet inside. The drain hose is not supplied with this unit.
The unit keeps saying that the bucket is full. How do you trick the unit to thinking the bucket is not full?
Sorry....I have a Danby DDR557HE-7 from Costco. I took the bucket out, hooked the hose up, but because the bucket is out, it keeps thinking the bucket is full and won't run. How do I trick it to thinking the bucket is still in the unit so I can use the continuous drain feature.
1. Undo your hose connection and remove the hose. 2. Put the bucket back into its compartment. 3. Feed the hose in throught the side door and pull out the drawer just enough so that you can re-connect the hose. 4. Push the drawer back in completely. 5. When the drawer is pushed in properly it will cause the "bucket full" switch to turn off. This will also cause the "bucket full" light on the control panel (top of unit) to go off. Now the unit should work normally. * If you do not want to put the bucket back in you could put some duct tape over the switch at the back where the bucket float mechanism touches the switch. The switch is on the "wall" on the same side and height where the float in the bucket is located. If you tape the switch make sure that it is completely pushed in. It is better to put the bucket in-just in case the hose connection develops a leak the bucket will be there to catch the water.
Regarding above answer: If your unit has a drain hose at the back instead of inside the bucket area then simply put the bucket back in. Make sure it is pushed in as far as it will go and that the "bucket full" light on the control panel is off. This should make your unit work again.
This is an image of the back side of discontinued model DDR557HE (not your HE-7). It shows the hose connection at the back.

SOURCE: how to use Danby DDR5511R, please help. When I
It may be running a cycle based on the humidity level in your home and the humidity level you have the controls set on. The lower the humidity setting (i.e 35%) the more humidity it will remove and the longer it will run. until the humidity level in your home reaches 35%. Of course all of this is predicated on how high the humidity level is in your home. If you have the humidity level to be removed set above 55%, it's not going to have to run to long. As that's a pretty high level of humidity. It simply is going to maintain that 55% level.
In an effort to help you even more, I have included a link to the Owners Manual for the Model DDR2509E. You can download and print this manual for future reference.

Also, it would be a good idea to take a look at the section on Routine Maintenance.
Hope this helps you. Please let me know.
