Another solution is to get a compact flash card reader and access your pix that way. No need for the Vista driver then. That's how I do it in my office. My Canon MP380 has a CompactFlash compatible card reader in it, so I just plug the memory card into that.

I had same problem. Called Canon and found out A40 is not compatible with Vista so there is no driver. But you can download pics to your Vista by purchasing USB Memory Card Reader/Writer you can find at Walmart for about $12.00. You put your Flash card in device and has USB that plugs in computer for downloading pics.

If your camera is not relatively new and you're running Vista or Windows 7, your computer may have problems seeing it. Unfortunately, this can't be corrected because Canon did not yet update drivers for your camera. But there exists a good, if not better alternative way to download your photos.
