Power acoustik gothic ov2-1600

My friend gave me this amp because it dident work, every time it would come on it would go in to protect mode. I took it apart a found one set of the output transistors where blown and the gain pot was broken, so I replaced all of that and hooked it up and it worked, but now as soon as its turns on one side of the amp starts to heat up and it gets realy hot. I thalt that mabe since I replaced one side of the output transistors, mabe the other side may have been going bad and heating up, so I replaced that side as well, but that still dident fix it. Any help would be great. Thanks alot!

I replaced Q111-Q115, Q118 first, then it started to heat up on the opposite around Q211-Q215, Q218 so I replaced them and it still gets realy hot on the same side.

There are 6 A1694 and 6 C4467, I replaced them with the correct part and placed them in the correct spot.

Thanks for the help, while I was taking the amp apart to check those parts i noticed a resistor that had broken and I must have over looked it, so I replaced it and it fixed my problem. Thanks again.

What are the circuit board designations (Q111, Q112, Q211, Q212...) for the parts you replaced?

Did you replace the defective parts with identical transistors?

Which transistors are heating up?

You need to pull Q108/208 and Q109/209 to see if they are damaged/defective.

Power Acoustik amp

First thing to do is check the fuse. If it is still in good condition then you may have blown your amp

You can make sure no wires are touching an also tried wiring in a mode that does not put it at its maximum ohm load.

I have two amps my power acoustic ov2-1800 stays in protect mode when i turn my car on, and my other amp is a JL Audio and it goes in and out of procect mode randomly??? Any insight???

You have a short. Check all power connections to both amps, all the way back to the battery. Then check to make sure speakers are connected properly

Amp keeps blowin the two 30amp fuses on the amp.

Make sure that the speaker wires are wired correct at both the amp and the speakers......otherwise it sounds like the typical death of a power acoustik amp (great amps, but prone to a premature death)

My "Power Acoustik OV2-420" has a problem. Some advice please!!!

It appears that the output transistors have failed. To eliminate other possible causes, read through the following page. Let me know if you have any other questions.

No sound, and a Immediat Red Light turns on everytime..whats it mean, and how can i fix it..

If it goes into protect mode with no speaker wires connected to the amp, it sounds like the audio output transistors have shorted. If that's the case, they would have to be replaced. It would require troubleshooting to find the shorted parts. You'd then have to disassemble the amp, desolder the defective parts and install the new parts. The following page provides the basic information needed to repair the amp.
