No sound on live U-verse TV after watching DVD on X- Box

I usually have to boot the X-box twice to get sound on the TV especially after watching a DVD on the X-Box. This takes a total of 6 to 8 minutes to switch from DVD to live TV--no way to watch TV in a hurry.

SOURCE: No sound when watching Television with AT&T U-Verse

Hello! Thanks for using FixYa today-- I think I can help you out.

Your first step is always to do a soft reset of your cable box. Do this by using your remote to turn it off, and then manually unplug it from the wall. Leave it off for about five minutes or so and then turn it on again. If that soft reset doesn't work, there is one more thing you can try before calling an AT&T tech.

Another option is to go to your "Settings" page and fiddle around with the audio settings-- sometimes it will randomly get altered (either due to user error or just a bug) and not be geared towards the parameters you had before.

If this doesn't work, call AT&T and see if they can fix the issue for you. Since your DVD is working then this is most definitely an issue on their end of the aisle.

Best of luck!

I have a spectronics tv....get a no signal across the screen...HDMI cable connecting tv to cable box U-verse. Happening more frequently now

Does this do the same thing on say a DVD player? could be your HDMI cable, your U-verse box & lastly the Main-I/O PCB. I'm thinking the most likely issue is with U-verse.

Precision TV - PTV2548 no sound when your watching cable but there is sound forvideo input

may be the source itself(i.e. cable box) also check cables between cable box & TV. If you are connecting the DVD to the same input the cable box is installed, You know that input on the TV is OK. If you get no audio when the DVD is connected to the same input as cable box, then issue is the MAIN PCB.

I have a D-VR7KC2 DVD VIDEO RECORDER. Is there any way to hook it up, so that I can record a channel, while watching another channel? I have a digital cable box. I don't mind only being able to record non...

The short answer is "yes", but it really depends on your TV having more than one input.

You would put a cable splitter (see Google images) on the wire that comes out of the wall. One of the OUT connections would be to the cable box, and the other would go directly to your Toshiba unit.

Depending on the outputs of your cable box, and the inputs of your TV, each unit would be connected to a TV input either by cable or video connections. You would then switch back and forth between the input from the cable box - when you wanted to watch live, digital TV - or the Toshiba when you wanted to set up/watch recordings.

I have recently bought a sky plus hd box and want to connect an external dvd recorder to it(Sony). Followed instructions but it will not pick up a signal from the hd box by the way I live on the costa del...

if you connect the dvd to the tv using scart socket 2 (av2) it should send a signal to the dvd, depending on the make/model of tv, you also may have to set the av2 output in the menu.
Alternativly, connect the sky to the dvd input and the dvd output to the tv, this should also work.May have to watch the tv with the dvd on set to av.

Hooking up my DVD/VHS player to TV & Convertor box

I would just hook up the dvd/vhs player with the red, white, yellow rca cables that should of come with your unit and just go to the input on the tv to watch your dvd/vhs player. This will give you a better picture and sound while allowing you not to have to watch dvd/vhs on a channel which helps make the dvd/vhs player independent. Also if possible I would hook the converter box up with the red, white, yellow rca cables to the tv as well if your tv has more than one set of red, white, yellow plugs since it is a better connection that coax and you probably watch more tv than vhs/dvd anyway. So bottom line try to hook up both boxes red, white, yellow and watch each box on different inputs instead of like channel 3 or 4. Also to record of converter box you can run coax from converter box to dvd/vhs combo and make sure your dvd/vhs player is on tuner input or channel 3.

Setting up receive set top box and tv for surround sound

Plug the TV to an open channel on your receiver via this output:
*Rear, 1 x Digital audio output (coaxial) ( TOSLINK )
This will look like a single RCA output plug.
Set that input channel on your receiver to some sort of virtual surround mode because it doesn't look like your HDTV has a decoder in it (meaning it will come out stereo and the receiver will have to fake it).
Turn the volume all the way down on the TV and use the receiver to control TV volume just as you do with DVDs.

*Substitute this with the digital audio output on your set top box if you are sending video only to the TV from the set top box (component, DVI or s-video connections). So video goes to the TV, audio to the receiver.
