sewingpartsonline does not have those parts.....i have the same problem after free motion quilting. My husband was able to set the feed dogs UP, but if you lower them again the button in the back does not bring them back up to above the needle plate.

I dropped my feed dogs and when I pushed the button to bring them back up, it wouldn't work. I did discover that when you put the button back to the up position and start sewing, the dogs come back up automatically.

SOURCE: Brother XL-6562 sewing machine is not feeding fabric through properly

Oil might help but it sounds like you don't have enough pressure on the foot. You can take the casing off where the light is and there is a screw back there that controls the tension on the pressure foot. It is not meant to be changed by anyone but a professional. I've changed the tension but it wasn't easy. If you are still interested let me know and I will try to explain.

Remove needleplate and clean out the built up lint between the teeth of the feeddogs.
When moveng from Feed Down to Up, rotate handwheel one revolution to re-engage.
If neither is a problem and your manual is of no assistance, take it to a service centre to check it out and quote.

How do I drop the feed dogs for quilting on my Brother XL 4011 sewing machine

It should be included in the owner's manual. (An internet search did not turn up a manual for your machine, but a model close to your machine may operate very similarly.) You can also contact Brother Support.

This may help:

Frequently Asked Questions

The other possibility is that the feed dogs on your model do not actually drop. There may be an accessory (darning plate) in your kit that covers the feed dogs during darning or free motion quilting. (Shown on page 38 of the following manual):

How do I avoid breaking a needle on a 26 foot beginning a free motion project after programing the foot choice and lowering the foot?

#26 is an embroidery foot. Why are you using an embroidery foot for free motion quilting? A #24 free motion embroidery foot will work but not the #26. Try using a darning foot that is just a smidgen shorter so there is space between it and the needleplate for you to freely move the fabric. (Adding a Supreme Slider sheet to the work surface of your machine helps make the fabric glide much smoother.) A standard presser foot is made to press the fabric against the feed dogs so the feed dogs will move the fabric. When free motion quilting, you would drop the feed dogs and move the material with your hands.

Depends which model Bernina you have (new or old style presser feet), which will work on your machine. There are also many generic darning/FMQ feet available that will work on your machine.

Why when i put the feed cover on i cant move the fabrice at all there is no room between the foot and the cover. i am trying to quilt together my quilts. thank you brenda g

I'm assuming your machine has a little plate you put over the feed dogs rather than a knob which disengages the feed dogs from moving to do free motion embroidery or something.

If this is the case there probably isn't enough room for your quilt sandwich under the foot.

You could try using a free motion embroidery foot rather than the regular foot with the feed dogs up and see if that allows you sufficient movement.

It would look like this:

It may take some practice still to get a smooth stipple if that is the effect you are going for.

You may find some other ideas on quilting websites to get around this problem or in a Yahoo group for quilters. I've only ever quilted in straight stitch using my walking foot so it feeds the quilt smoothly for me, never tried FMQ.

I cleaned my machine, but after putting the plate back on, the feed dogs don't pull the fabric through now.

check the feed dogs to see if their up, you can see & feel them with your finger under the needle plate.
if the feed dogs are not up then somewhere in the cleaning the knob or lever got moved, go back thru what you did to find the feed dog knob,,it's always good to know where it at

I am using the walking foot doing top stiching on a quilt and have set the stitch on 4 and when sewing medium speed the stichs are not what I have set it for. They come out super small and I am not sure...

Do you have the proper walking foot for your machine? Make sure the pressure foot is moving up and down freely. And check to see that the feed dogs are coming up above the needle plate at least 1MM (almost as high as a dime) If they don't, remove the needle and check for any lint build up between the feed dog teeth. If they still don't come up above the needle plate, they might have to be adjusted.
