I have a Smart Plus Series, Phillips Magnavox, When I turn on the television with the power button on the tv the picture has black and white lines then turns off. I push the channel "up" button the tv turns on the about 5 seconds it turns off automatically. I tried pushing the "up" volume the tv turns on then about 5 seconds it turns off automatically. How do I get it to stay on??

Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then
release the SETUP button.
Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator
blinks, then stays lit.
Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry,
the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further
programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try
one of the other codes for your brand
remove the cover and observe the source of the light. if its in the picture tube it can be fixed with a picture rejuvonator. if its a cracked solder joint a soldering iron and solder will fix it.
This is a power supply issue. Probably in the high voltage stages. Maybe a fuse, regulator IC, or Horiz. Output transistor or all of them. If you don't know anything about TV repair, you should take it to a shop that will provide an estimate to you.
