SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
After unprotecting the card, insert it into the camera and format it.

Your memory card is most likely corrupted. You can try formatting it and if it still cannot create a folder, just go buy a new one of better quality.

SOURCE: lost all photos

Usually when you create a new folder on the camera, the camera only shows photos in the new folder. If you go back to the prior folder, the photos should be there. If not, the recovery software solution posted previously should work.

My anti-virus accidentally deleted the folder to access my photos frm my sony a330..how can i access my photos now or retrieve the folder? every time i created a new folder or open it, it says empty.

It's not necessarily your anti-virus. Did you format your memory card in your camera when you first got it (as Sony recommends)? If not, the card will work temporarily, but the file structure will inevitably corrupt as pictures are added and deleted. Recommend first trying to download your photos using a USB card reader. If that doesn't work, your next step would be to try recovery software with the card reader and memory card. Here's a YouTube video of your freeware options, and here's more info on how to use them, and where to get them. After you've recovered your photos to your computer, format the card in your camera using the camera's format feature in its menus.

Pics gone in DCIM folder. Using a Nikon s3000 coolpix camera, connected to computer, F:\s3000 is detected, within it is DCIM folder present, and within DCIM folder presents Nikon100 and Nikon101 folders,...

You cannot create new folders on an SD card and copy images to them, as the camera will not recognise them, since they were not create in the camera. Copy the entire contents of the card to a folder on your HDD, then format the card in the camera.

Do I create folders on my mermory stick to download my music, pictures adn ringtones?

Actually you dont have to, the Phone creates these folders automatically, all you have to do is copy your music to them. But strangely enough your music and Pictures dont have to go in the music and pictures folder, you can place them where ever you wish. Just in case you need to create folders manually you can use the procedure outlined below. However there isnt any need too, the phone should create these folders automatically once your format your memory card (view your phones manual for details on doing this). But remember you can put the files anywhere the folders are just there for sorting sake..

connect the memory card to your computer via a port or some device,,(like cellular phone or camera)

1.) when windows read the card, click cancel to close off the window
2.) click start / my computer
3.) double click on your memory card (it shows up as a removable device)
4.) right click on any empty spot and (left click new and left click folder)
5.) type the name for your folder

click the - sign to minimize the window

1.) browser to the folder where you have your music or pictures in
2.) select the files you want to put on memory card (hold ctrl and click multiple files)
3.) hold ctrl and press c (Ctrl + C) to copy the files
4.) click on your memory card window to the button of the screen to open it up
5.) right click in any empty space then click paste.

your files will now be copied to the folder you created on your memory card. Repeat as needed to create more folders and copy more files.

I have a GE Digital Camera A830 and icant transfer the pictures and video i captured to the computer. It connects to the computer but all i see are empty folder. Why?

may be the problem is with memory card. You can try with another card if you have. Else use a card reader. Card readers are cheap and you can get it anywhere in a electronics shop. If this photos are very important then try using a card reader and see if photos are visible. If not the photos were not at all recorded. If that becomes the case, try formating the card inside the camera and then take a couple of snaps. IF that is not visible again then some serious software problem for which you will have to take it to a repair center.

If you need more help let me know.

File Folders

You cant delete the folders as the camera makes them to store photos , when you just connect the memory stick without the camera into a card reader you can delete the photos .However the 2 folders are there because 1 is used to store the internal memory pictures and the memory stick or you might have created another folder by changing the path of storage

To download

The manual is helpful isn't it?

Your music and pictures need to be installed onto a SD memory card. Take an empty card and copy the MP3 or pictures onto the card. Install the card into the GPS. Use the correct player (for pics or MP3) and see if it detects the music on the memory card.

It seems like it works the same way if you were to put music or photos onto a Palm. It may need a special folder on the card to read the photos or MP3s. I would put it into the GPS first, let the GPS format it, and see if it creates folders for them.

Please help

Hi

The camera creates its own folder named " DCIM " during the initial Format process
New folders would be created in this folder. To recover your lost images

Try removing the memory card and connecting it via a card reader/usb adapter to browse the contents of the card. Save all pictures elsewhere on your PC.

But chances are when you created the new folder the camera may have deleted the contents of the default folder. (the previous existing photos)

Save any photos you can find & re-format the memory card using Camera settings menu.
