Phone is locked to AT&T. Switched to Consumer Cellular. Put in their SIM card, but phone will not prompt for subsidy code. I have the code I need to get to the screen that accepts it.
May be your code will be wrong..Get the subsidy password from http://www.superunlockcodes.com/ .It helps to unlock your motorola easily.

it means the phone is locked to another carrier you need to get it unlocked either by a code via a website or take it to someone with a Smart-Clip
SOURCE: Free unlocking or subsidy code for mobile phones
call your service company (i.e. sprint tmobile, altell.) they can provide you with a code or they might be able to get you a whole new phone... tmobile has done both for me….
Please rate my solution I need feedback J thanks

If you dont get it from your service provider it's considered illegal and you could serve at least 2 years in prison.

Your phone is currently 'locked' to the Vodafone network and will need to be 'unlocked' before it will work on another network (Tesco use O2)
A subsidy password is just Motorola terminology for an unlock code.
There are a number of companies offering unlocking services on the internet, or you could take it into a phone shop that offers an unlocking service. There is usually a small charge for this service.
Unfortunately there is not a generic unlock code that I can give you. They are unique to each individual phone.
Hoep this helps.
Subsidy Password usually asks in Motorola phone. If it is a locked phone, you insert other network sim card without unlocking it,it will ask for subsidy code.BC50 is motorola phone battery type.So you need to specify the correct phone model,IMEI number, network and country it is locked now.Get subsidy code from the site Onlinegsmunlock.com and unlock your Motorola phone from network lock. Then use with any GSM network sim card.It will not ask for an unlock code.

Thanks for the response. A friend used their t-mobile sim and the subsidy prompt popped right up. Must have been Consumer Cellulars sim. I punched in the code and it unlocked.
I appreciate your response, but would have appreciated my question being understood. I could not use the subsidy code as the phone would not prompt for it. The response I received was to purchase another subsidy code, completely bypassing the problem I was actually having which was to find a way to get the phone to prompt for code. Maybe in the future you could read the whole question before you attempt an answer that shows you didn't read the question!!
