This sounds like a line timebase failure. The line timebase works at about 15 thousand cycles per second (15KHz) which may be audible to some people due to the iron-ferrite materials used (magnetostrictive). The line output transformer is highly stressed and also has the rectifier diodes in the outside if the windings. It is all very well insulated to guard against moisture and dust but if it breaks down due to the high voltages (25Kv) the arc produced makes this squealing noise, and of course it burns out, and breaks down. This may not blow the fuse if there is not a short circuit. So get an engineer if you are not sure about changing the line output transformer.

My tv just died no power on my protron pltv 3250 power is at the plug in box but tv shows nothing.

Hello Bkobert, hi, before going through the set, kindly check first the following.

1. Check your mains AC line.
2. Check your TV plug cable, they may be loose.
3. Also check if the plug has a user fuse.

If ok, then there is a problem with your TV's switching power supply, a fuse on the board may be open, or loose wiring inside.

The symptoms may go to the extreme, like a faulty switching regulator section, which include the power transistor, IC regulatorm dried up capacitors, and low value resistor.

You may also choose to replace the entire board. thats all. keep me posted

RCA P60920BL wont power up makes clicking sound

This is a chassis PTK195 and acommon fault with these sets, that causes the symptom you describe, is the flyback transformer goes bad.
If you're at all familiar with electronic repair you could start checking there (and horizontal output transistor shorts). If not have an RCA approved warrany repairer give you an estimate/service call.
Note: the good thing about these sets is the chassis is very common and easily removed for service (without bringing in the whole set.) .
Usual cost to repair flyback/ dead set symptoms $200-$350.

Pwr supply don't run properly. Go to pwr supply section and replace 2 small electrolytic capacitors 2.2uf 100v and 39uf 100v. Maybe need replace 470uf 25v. If still with problems, try to see under CTR (picture tubes) for leak coolant, some times cause dont run the set ( polarity chassis). Possible High splitter voltage with damage ( smeal born when you turn on set), I hope my suggestion help you. Thank you, have nice day.

TV will not turn on

The F25261TX3 is a 25 inch set that uses the CTC185 series chassis. The 2 most common causes for the set not turning on are a corrupt EPROM and a bad regulator or resistor in the main power supply. This is also the chassis notorious for cracks on the shields around the tuner and microprocessor which causses the EPROM to go corrupt. These are relatively easy and simple things to correct, but the set should be serviced and modified by a qualified tech familiar with that RCA chassis.

RCA P52940 Television

The P52940 uses the CTC195 series main chassis. The most common reason for the set not to start up is a shorted flyback (high voltage) transformer. The set actually does try to start, but the computer immediately detects the extra current drawn by the shorted flyback and instantly shuts the set back off. The chassis should be checked and the flyback replaced by a qualified tech familiar with RCA projection TV's.
