Excellent - some additional info for those fixing this fridge. I have had multiple failures of the ice dispenser actuator and plastic rod to open and let the ice through.

A F1 or 1F error code on the refrigerator's display indicates a problem with ice blower fan or ice maker motor.
search LG error 1f and u will find lots of info
The ER 1F code usually means that there is a problem with the ice compartment fan, the ice maker motor or one of the control boards (the one for the ice maker or the main control unit). You can try resetting the refrigerator by leaving it unplugged for a day. Next check for ice build up on the fan that is blocking it from turning. Usually, if the fan hasn't been turning, you will have to at minimum replace the motor. It will burn out trying to force the fan to turn.
1. yes. Open ice room door (back side of left hand refrig door) and turn toggle switch on icemaker to OFF. 2. yes. Do step 1 and connect water to refrig. 3. ER IF (Error Ice room Fan) may still come up. If it does and you don't like it, you could probably avoid that by removing the fan blade from the ice room fan, located in the freezer section, behind the back wall, upper left hand corner. The error code pops up when the electronic board does not see a feedback signal from the ice room fan. Removing the fan blade should allow the motor to run, thus sending the feedback signal to the board, preventing the code from appearing.
Find the technical data information. It is a document somewhere in the refrigerator. It could be under the front, which, means removing the kick panel, or in the back behind the rear panel. Once you locate the tech sheet it might enlighten you are to what the error codes are. With this information you can make an informed decision as to how to proceed with your next actions.
