TV lacks green, but has prominant red/pink (Question 2)

I have found the little color outputs on the neck of the tube, there are 6 total which are grouped in sets of 2. There is a paint strip that appears to line up if you move them in the right direction. Does this piece have anything to do with it?

Those are magnets and not outputs ,the outputs you might be looking for are in the crt board and is an actual transistor,do not move the magnets and try to realign to the way they were, the crt board is at the end of the neck of the tube and it can be remove very carefully,do not twist this board or the picture tube might break and then we are in trouble.Take a picture of the board it should be about a 4"x4" in size.Make sure the set is not plug in when you work around this parts.Lets Us know when you need more information.

Sony Trinitron screen turned pink

Hello
Absence of green is the problem. You see mixing of red and blue, which will look like pink.
the fault must be of its video output card. This card can be located at the neck of the picture tube. Check this card, for any loose solder. This is a common problem seen in most CRt based Sony TVs.
Just resolder all the suspected solder points on this board, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjecent solder terminals.
images of two models of sony trinitorn TVs, [back cover opend] has been attached here. you can see the boar under suspection, along with the picture tube neck. [See the rectangulat printed circuit board attached to CRT base]3_9_2012_2_12_06_pm.jpg3_9_2012_2_12_38_pm.jpg

Yellow raster on tv is cause by what?

Hello
Check the Blue video output transistor for loose solder. This transistor can be located at its video output card, usually pluged on to the neck of the picture tube. There is no blue output is now, only Red and green are there. The mixing of Red and Blue color, and absensce of blue color, causes the raster to appear as yellow. The fault is purlely with blue output transistor at the video output state of your tV. If there is no loose solder, just replace this transistor with same number. If loose solderings are found, resolder that points by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjecent solder terminals.

Clor wont show right every thing is red cant see green

Hello
The video output stage in your TV is in trouble. Most common cause to this type of problem is a short in the Red Output stage, or its supply voltage goes down, due to an open resistor in its path. An another reason is due to the soldering loose contact. Anyway now you are seeing a red prominent picture with some retrace lines also may be. To rectify this fault, you must open the back cover of your tv. Just open it, and you will see a printed circuit board plughed directly to the neck of the picture tube, where the fault is. Unplug that board from the picture tube. Care must be taken not to break the neck while pulling it out. Never make any sideways shakes. Pull it straight out from it.
There are three transistors soldered on it, which amplifies Red, Green and Blue, primary colours to mix all the colours you see on your screen. Usually they will be marked as R,G and B. Check the soldering side, for any dry soldering is there. If needed check the red output transistor for short, with the help of a multimeter. It is best to resolder all the suspected points by applying a little bit more solder. In most cases this will solve the probelm.
Make sure to disconnect theTV from AC mains, before you open the Tv. Take every precautions we take before doing work on an electrical equipment. If you have any doubts about this, inform it to Fixya. They will send me alerts. Ok.

My tv model 60P8341A philips television screen is red and dull in color what do i need to do?

Hello
If your TV screen looks more red its red video output section is in trouble. Some philips circuts uses transistors while others uses ICs in that section. Philips magnavox model have both types. We here in India, have transistorised video output stages in Philips Magnavox sets. Whatever the ciruit type may be, the fault and its remedy is same.
Check whether your set has transistors or ICs used. If transistors are used, check the collector voltage at red video output transistor. If ICs are used, some sets uses a single IC for Red, Green and Blue output stages. Some of them have three ICs on board as Red,Green and blue output stages.
The video output stages are integrated on the base card of your TV. That is, a small square or rectangular board, pluged into the neck of the picture tube. You just find out the red, green and blue output transistors, or ics whichever may be used. It is ver easy to understand the video output transistors. They may be a little larger than other transistors.
An easy way is to locate the Red,Green and blue cathodes of the picture tube base board points. Check the voltage of the three of them They must be almost equal to each other, provided a little, that is, 2 or 3VDC difference is allowable and will be. In your case, the voltage at the red cathode may be , not may be, must be low. As cathode voltage lowers, emmision of that cathode will rise, and poise that colour is in excess. If the Red Cathode voltage in your TV is found low, say difference betwwen other two cathodes is 50v or so, repace the red output transistor or the Ic if used at that stage. If a single Ic is used in your TV as R_G_B outputs, replce the same. If three Ics are there, replace the red output control Ic. ok
If you have any more problems, inform fixya. They will send me alerts.
Thank you

Hey everyone. I have a Hitachi Rear projection Tv 53udx10b. I just replaced the convergence chips and cleaned all 3 CRT tubes. The picture definitely looks clearer now but the white tint has a slight...

You can try adjusting the color output. There are two ways to do this:
1) In the service menu (I don't know the codes or parameters...) I will not cover this for lack of info.

2) Via the focus block (Very touchy and difficult to get the mix right again if you get too far off)

If you take off the front cover there should be a access panel. Behind that, there should be a small square black box with 6 screws on it. This is the focus block. (At least this is where most of them are located)

It sounds more like you may need more red in the mix or just less blue and green. There is a screw for each color. Do not mess with the focus screws, just the ones labeled 'SCREEN.'

Barely turn the red up.
Use an insulated screwdriver and DO NOT TOUCH the focus block and ESPECIALLY NOT the back of it.
Very HIGH VOLTAGE. I found that out the hard way.

Do not turn andy of these up too high or damage may occur and the TV may detect a short and shut off.

I have found that if the three colors are adjusted in a dark room to where the 3 color spots (R/G/B) are just barely visible on the screen at equal levels, there is a pretty good color balance.

I hope this helps! Just be careful.

Retrace green, relay on/off..when turn on the screen is green and after a few seconds it turns off by itself

Oh dear ! I fear my answer may not be what you want hear but my advise is free. Bright green raster with Flyback (retrace) lines may indicate a heater cathode short in the tube (crt) this causes a sharp increase in beam current and the power supply shuts down into standby mode. To prove the point isolate the red and green cathode pins on the tube base and cross couple the red video output stage to the green cathode pin and the green output to red cathode pin using wire links. If set now comes on with bright red raster the fault is in the green video output stage and not the tube. If still bright green then tube is most likely cause. Gently tapping the tube neck may prove the point, but take care the tube neck is thin glass and if hit too hard will break compounding your problems. WARNING if you do not feel totaly confident to attempt this level of repair there is no shame in seeking the advice of your local service technician. Safety first always

Samsung CRT HDTV - Color Problem - Red, Blue, No Green

This will be a lack of green drive caused either by the green output transistor having failed or no green output from the driver IC. As to which you have depends on how old the TV is. These are located on the CRT base (square type board connected to the neck of the CRT. You would need a multimeter to check the voltages going to the green output on the crt. It is also very possible the CRT is internally faulty giving no green, if this is so, you will need the crt (tube) to be replaced,it is not very economical to do this now a days.

TV lacks green, but has prominant red/pink

Getting the squematic will be the first step to take to become more familiar with the electronics inside, you can ordered by going to http://www.servicemanuals.net/ click on service manuals and give them the model number, they will then give a price and availabilty. The color processing uses a driver for each color and an output for each color too,the output are ussually placed in the crt board in theneck of the tube.the drivers and outputs are transistors most of the time but sometime the drivers are part of an integrated circuit. Please let US know if you need more help but place it as a new question.
