Phone fades out and crackles to a stop, cant phone,or fax in or out

Hi Janet
Try using a standard phone to call your Fax Line
Connect a phone to this Line to test for voice
Disconnect Fax Machine from Phone Line
Reset Fax machine
The Fax machine is supposed to respond to the right tones being sent down the voice line
If it is not responding & all else works then check your Fax settings for "Receiving"

have you see the display if it was saying the word receiving...?

Unplug the HP from the phone line. Connect any regular phone, do you have a calling signal? Can you outdial and receive calls? If so... Check if you're plugging the phone cable to the "LINE" not "EXT".

Try calling your fax machine from a telephone...if the fax machine does'nt respond, unplug the fax and plug a phone into the fax line and call again to see if the prob is the line or not. If the line is ok make sure your fax machine is set to "FAX" and not "TEL".....if all this fails think about when it stopped working....did you just have a storm or power outage.???? The NCU pcb in the machine may be damaged.

Sounds like you hve "noise" on the phone line you are using. Try plugging a normal phone into the line socket you are using for faxing, then pick up the reciever to make a call. If you hear crackling then the line is noisy and you need your phone service provider to repair the line. If you dont hear crackling try using another line lead.

unplug machine, press and hold the "stop/clear" key and while holding key down, plug machine back in and continue to hold the button for 5 seconds. that should take care of problem.

[FaxTel]: Switches between fax and voice calls automatically. [MANUAL]: Does not answer any calls. You have to manually receive faxes. NOTE: a. For [FaxTel] or [MANUAL], make sure the optional handset or an external telephone is connected to the machine. b. For [AnsMode], make sure an answering machine is connected to the machine. c. The [NET SWITCH] mode is available for certain countries only and requires subscription to a network switch service. 6. Press [Stop/Reset] to return to the standby mode.

please check your phone cord, try using a different one, sounds like you might either have a bad cord or you have a bad ground inside the speaker or you have a bad connection on you tx/rx board or if you have a phone it could be bad.
