My SC-DC163 camcorder does nothing when I try to upload videos to my PC.

I have a SC-DC163 camcorder and when I tried to transfer the videos to my pc, after following all of the directions, it does not respond when I press the Menu button. Also, I need it to be transferred from the disc not a memory card like the directions state, but either way nothing works. I've tried finding answers to this or troubleshooting guides but this is not covered anywhere. Also, is it possible to transfer from the disc to a memory card on the camcorder itself?

Thank you in advance.

I had to order the USB cable and the program because it was missing when the camcorder was given to me, when I ordered the program the booklet that came with it was very unhelpful so I don't know how to just save the videos to my computer. I think I've already downloaded the drivers, if that's what it prompted me to do when I installed the program. Is there supposed to be a screen that pops up when I connect the USB cable to the camcorder? Because all my other cameras and equipment have that, but this does nothing when I connect the camcorder to the cable and turn it on, besides say that it is connected. Sadly the videos are on a disc and not a memory card. So I guess I need a way around that direction to upload the videos.

I think it is working, I tried it on windows movie maker, it's capturing the video now. So I'm thinking that's a safe bet that it's finally transferring to my pc. Thank you so much for your help, you're amazing! I've been stressing over this for several days trying to figure it out, I don't think I can thank you enough :)

The way you can transfer your videos on your computer is by using USB cable and install the driver to your computer. You can upload your videos by saving it on ULEAD products. As far as i know you cant transfer videos from disc to your memory card unless it was been converted but you cant view or watch it on your camcorder itself only computer can play this because your camcorder is not able to play such converted files.

thank you for using fixya

i will give you a step by step on your camcorder.

connect your camcorder using your USB cable to your computer and be sure it is ON

Install the cd driver camed with your camcorder. if you didnt prompt on looking for a driver then go to the add hardware on the control panel and follow the procedure there.

after the installation you should see the icon on the my computer labeled scanners and cameras and indicating the model of your camcorder.

Install Ulead Power Producer or any editing movie that you have like Windows movie maker, nero movier maker etc.. i prefer to use Ulead because its so easy to use

after uploading and editing your videos using ULEAD save it on any various types of videos that you like. you should see it after you want to save it.

burn your videos on NERO software

Hope you understand my procedures. Good Luck!

Uploading video from sc-d353 camera to Mac

Final Cut may not sync with the Camcorder. I assume you're running firewire into the g4. Try capture as an analog device.

When i plug the camcorder into PC using USB cable, it is not recognizing the device. Trying to upload video from a recital :(

You'll need to install a driver (on your PC) for the camcorder first .... for the PC to recognize the device. The driver is usually provided in the software CD that came with the camcorder. Or, you may try to search for it on Samsung's website or ask a Tech Support person where to get it.

I recorded a video on my samsung sc-dc 164 camcorder and i used my SD memory card instead of the disc. when i try to play my video from the SD card recording it won't play but can only hear audio from my...

how did you transfer the video from the card to your PC?

did you connect the camcorder to your PC or did you use a memory card reader?

if you can play the audio then what you need is the right video codec for the unit
try searching for video codecs through search engines

make sure that the software that you are using to play the video plays the file format of your video,

try using roxio, then connect the camcorder to your computer via USB, make sure that the drivers are installed, play the video through your camcorder then use roxio to capture it real time instead of the usual "copy-paste"

What are the steps in transferring the videos using Firewire?

Try starting Windows Movie Maker. It will have a import function that will talk to your camcorder attached Firewire. You will need Movie Maker or some other video editing software to import your tapes into your PC.

Connecting analong camcorder to computer

The only Analog camcorder that has a USB Connection for transferring pictures or video is the SC-L770. The SC-L770 can transfer video (live or recorded) and still photos through the USB connection. You can also transfer audio using the audio cable provided. After installing the driver and software, you can begin transferring data using the software provided. Connecting to a PC 1. Connect a USB cable to the USB port on the PC. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable into the proper terminal on the camcorder. (USB jack) 3. Connect the audio cable to the Line input jack of the PC. If the PC has no Line input jack, connect the audio cable to the MIC input jack. In this case, however, a noise may be produced depending on the PC. Notes: * If you disconnect the USB cable from the PC or the camcorder while transferring, the data transmission will stop and the data may be damaged. * If you connect the USB cable to a PC via a USB HUB or simultaneously connect the USB cable along with other USB devices, the camcorder may not work properly. * In this case, remove the other USB devices from the PC and reconnect the camcorder. Some other Analog Camcorders have a snapshot mode which allows you to take a still photo with your camcorder. However, you cannot transfer these to a computer unless you purchase additional hardware such as a capture card. Some capture cards have analog a/v inputs which will allow you to use the a/v outputs on the camcorder to connect to your pc and transfer images and video. You can purchase a capture card at most computer and electronics stores. Samsung does not support capture cards.
