All DVD player has the same problem, it is the lens cable to the circuit board or the DVD PCB needs to be changed. Try to see if the lens cables has any bends or bend out leads and try replacing the cable to see it is the problem. If its not the case than definately the DVD PCB board needs to be replaced.

When a DVD is placed in the player to play, the reading on the screen is "No Disc" and nothing plays.

Check the motor if its spinning or not.If it isn't spinning fast enough that you need to lubricate the motor from the underside so that the lubricant doesnt go on the lens. But if its spinnig fast enough that maybe the lens isnt picking and needs cleaning or replacing..Good Luck

Unable to read disc;cleaned the lens but just says "loading. . ." on screen.

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, overtime the laser becomes weaker until it can no longer read the disc. Unfortunately the only option is to replace the DVD player, because the cost to repair will greatly exceed the price of a new one.

The screen goes black and it does not read the disk

There should be a switch on either side of the DVD player that says "TFT" and something else.
Shut the DVD player down, move the switch, and turn it back on.
Hope this helps.

BTW, the the switch lets you choose between using the output A/V cables and the DVD player screen.

Mintek 8" TFT portable dvd player MDP1810

DO NOT continue to try to charge that battery. The company recalled those batteries because they explode or start on fire. Do a google search of "mintek" and you can read about the recall.
