Question about Humminbird Boating

Open Question

I have a Humminbird PTM600 and a 200 DX , I have fitted both onto a boat and both are not working. There is a message on the 200 DX saying transducer not connected (brand new transducer) and 15 ft as

All the functions are working including the demo but there is no transducer? Why would this be, I have checked the plugs are in the correct possitions and connected. Could it be possible the transducer units are damaged from wrong polarity or do they only get the power from the unit itself. If connected the wrong way the unit does not switch on.

I believe it is the same model. Even if it is different, it will probably work if it has the same type of plug.

SOURCE: mice ate transducer wire

cut the wire and re connect with crimp connectors and then seal withe heat shring tubing and a heat gun (put the tubing in first) or you could solder the ends together and heat shrink tubing over the individual wires. So long as you have a good water tight connection ther should be no adverse affects to your equipment.

Batteries could be too low, or unit could think batteries are too low because it is not set up for your battery configuration. (voltage, amperage, deep cycle, wet, gel, agm etc.)

I am not sure how you set up that model but the manual should explain it. If you don't have one you can get it online from xantrex.

SOURCE: lowrance x135 not functioning properly

Had the same issue with another brand. Turned out the transducer cable was picking up noise from other cables (power, trolling mtr. etc). Try moving the transducer cable away from any other cables. I put the cable in a 1/4 " plastic housing up to the point where it was above deck and it stopped all the strange stuff. Not sure about the temp issue??

I have a Humminbird fishfinder 525. It goes directly in simulation mode and says: No svinger connected... What could be the problem?

If the transducer is disconnected, it will automatically go into Demo Mode.

If you do have the transducer connected, but the boat isn't in the water, the unit knows there is no water and after a few seconds, switches to Demo mode.

Not sure what a 'svinger' is, but if you need more help, just ask. I can also edit the message and change 'svinger' to something else.

I have had both the Humminbird 798 and also the 1198HD. They are great pieces of kit on the water. The 525 is entry level.

Why does my screen loose depth return as soon as I am in 150 mts of water?.How come in shallower water I get a very good image but past 150 mts the screen is just scrambled and there's no bottom retur

Be sure you have your unit set in "max mode" and run it on 200khz frequency see if this makes any difference. Also be sure your unit is wired directly to your battery not through a switch or fuse panel as this can rob your unit of voltage, impacting the strength of your sonar signal.

Gps problem

If the new harness / parts are listed for use with this model GPS, it should work - unless you have miswired something. Double-check your work. Make sure all connections are made up tight. Pay particular attention to the ground wire. Relying on the boat to pass ground it not reliable. Look for damaged or cut cable from power source and transducer. You may wish to troubleshoot with a meter or a test light to be sure power is available at the GPS. Good luck!

Check to make sure the transducer is hooked up correctly, and check the actual transducer for signs of damage. Transducers are fragile, and a good whack can break the crystal inside. For more troubleshooting, here is a helpful link with the Owners Manual for your Humminbird.

Hi I live in NZ and have a Humminbird 383c GPS Chartplottter which was purchased in the US. approx 2 years ago.It has a transom mounted transducer which I mounted in a piece of plastic pipe, epoxied in the...

Don,

We would recommend that you replace the transducer (if you want to keep the transducer inside the hull you may use the
XP 9 20 T with temperature and you can use epoxy to mount the transducer) If you want to keep in the compartment you have created you may want to just put water in the compartment with the transducer so its not shooting through the air.

If you have any other questions please email customer service at service@humminbird.com

Thank you,
