Issue may be adjustable in the Tech menu with your remote---you need to see if you can find the service manual (with schematics and information about getting into that menu and how to adjust).

Try to GOOGLE MODEL NUMBER WITH service manual or contact Pioneer.

SOURCE: Pioneer Plasma TV-PDP-4270HD won't turn on. TV

Try this! There should be a power button on the bottom of the panel that has to be depressed for the television to power on. It is the main power supply button and without it there is no power going into the TV.

While watching sports my screen seem to be extended to where I cannot see the scores and who is leading in a race.

Use the remote control to ajust the picture format, which is currently in "expansion" mode.

or just switch to an HD channel and the problem should go away.

My picture does not fit the screen. It is as if it is zoomed in too tight. Scores and stats on sports are not visible on screen, etc.

This can usually be solved using the picture size function. Most stations that broadcast in HD now will have part of the screen cut off. On samsungs you can switch between the picture size being 'Normal' and '16:9'. Try both to see what works better.

Picture too large for screen

If the television is connected to a cable box such as Time Warner's HD box, the picture mode can be changed by pressing the '#' on the cable box's remote keypad (where the channel numbers are). This cycles the picture between zoom, normal, and stretch which could be cause of your problem.
