I had my 2000 Mazda MPV jump started after I left my lights on and killed the battery. The next day my radio and speedometer are not working and I have to manually shift my car to get it moving and it seems to not shift into 3rd gear. I also have to manually get my car out of park through a spot on the steering column. I am hoping it is not an electrical issue...any suggestions?

I think it may be an electrical issue but I think it's just a fuse. There are 2 fuses I would check. One of them is a 15 amp fuse inside the fuse panel inside the vehicle (see fuse layout below) and the other is a 40 amp fuse in the fuse panel under the hood of the vehicle in the engine compartment (see other picture below). I marked the fuses to check and hope this is the problem.

sounds like you have a wire grounding out some where trace the wires under the dash and look for broken or chaffed wires. that might be touching the fire wall

Judging from what i know, the timing on the engine is probably a bit off, and i remember reading the exact same problem on another web site and that is also what they said. So just check the timing on the engine or have it checked by a mechanic if you don't know how to do it.

2001 dodge grand caravan sport.Grandkids left light on and killed Battery. Jumped the van got it started notice this morning going to work my Radio and speedometer isnt working.Checked fuses but none...

Make sure to check the engine compartment fuses and the inside fusebox, if all the fuses look good then try to unhook the battery and then connect it back on and start the van and see if this helps. the radio is it asking for a code, if this radio has antitheft then you will need to install the code to make it work, look at manual and it will tell you how to do this. the code is entered using the preset staition buttons, there should be a card in the glovebox with the radio code if it has antitheft. if you find no bad fuses then you may have short out the cluster jumping it, but most of the time it just needs a fuse or reseting by removing neg battery terminal for about 2min, good day let me know the outcome.

After a jump due to the door being left ajar the battery immediately took the charge. but while driving the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gage went flat.

The battery may have took the charge, but if the battery went down, the computer lost some memory, the dealer will have to re flash the computer. Also check the charging system just in case it is not doing it`s job, sounds more like the alternator is not charging,or not charging enough.Let me now how you come [email protected]
