Brushes will not rotate. Changed the belt and cleaned the area well, checked the light bulb, seem good, but does not come on. Why do the brushes not rotate?

I don't know what model you own, but all the models I owned did have a driving belt for the brushes. Usually situated at the bottom and can be accessed by removing the screws from the bottom cover. Hope this helps!

Bissell powerforce brush won't turn when powered

Hey, you may want to have check if the brush turns by hand without the belt in place. If the brush doesn't turn manually, you'll need to replace the brush.

Here's a quick link to the BISSELL website to assist you.

My rotating brushes have stopped rotating

Almost certainly you have broken a drive belt. It is not a big deal though just turn it upside down and remove the base plate you should be able to access the belt from there. You should be able to get a belt pretty easy from an online retailer like vacuumspot

Hi, The belt of our Dirt devil bagless vaccum broke and we got new belt and replaced it. Even after replacing the belt, the brush is not rotating. Any suggestions please ?

Did you check to see that the beater brush, the brush that the belt drives, is free of debris and moves freely? When they bind up they can cause the belt to break. Remove the beater brush just as you do when changing the belt and clean as best you can. There are retainer clips at each end of the brush, add some WD40 between the clips and the beater brush and turn by hand to free it up. Reassemble making sure the belt is on in the proper manner so that the brush will turn in the correct direction. If you find this solution helpful, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up from you!
Thank you. Paul

Beater brush

Note: The brush will not rotate when the machine is locked in the upright position, because an internal micro-switch turns the brush motor off.

- Make sure brush switch on the handle is on.

- Check the belt through the clear brush cover. If this appears damaged or broken, take your machine to a local BISSELL Authorized Service Center to have it replaced. If the belt is intact, please continue checking the following:
- Ensure both power switches are turned on when you check for brush rotation.
- Unplug the power cord and remove the handle completely. Slide handle back into the lower section of handle, ensuring the screw is in tight. If the handle is not aligned properly, this will affect the power of the brush motor.
- Look for debris wrapped around the brush (i.e. string, hair, fibers, etc.). When the machine is unplugged, cut away any visible hair, fibers or debris from the brush roller. This brush is NOT removable from the machine.
- If something has become lodged in the foot and the brush shuts off, turn off the vacuum and unplug this from the outlet. You can now remove the obstruction. The brush will automatically reset when the vacuum is plugged in and turned back on.

then check fro a blockage in the elbow section near the head
if there is no vacuum , junk it and get a new one

The brush does not rotate - the brush that brushes the dirt up. The brush does not turn

Hello, see if you can turn the roler by hand ( MAKE SURE VACCUME is OFF), if you cant turn it try checking that there isnt something caught up on either side of the roler. Sometimes things can get caught on the spindel at either side and it winds up fairly tightly. If this isnt the problem then eithr a drive belt has worn or broken, or a driver cog could be worn. If this is the case then you will need a technician to have a look for you. I hope this is of some use.

Vibrates very loudly when brush starts spinning

take out screws on bottom and see if tension bar can be tightened, make sure the right belt is in there, also if belt looks worn or gouged replace with a new belt

Brush will not spin any longer

If the brush won't spin at all, it's either the drive belt or the roller beater brush is clogged. Pet hair can quickly clog a vacuum. Turn the unit over and see if the brush will rotate by hand. If yes, it's probably the belt. Also look for debris and clear as much out as possible. You may have to remove the bottom plate and clean the bottom of the unit out. If you do have to go that far, it would be best to replace the drive belt and thoroughly clean the vacuum.

Dyson DC07 Vaccum - brush will not turn

Hi.

Your Dyson has A clutch unit this engages the brush roller when you pull the handle back to vacuum.

Check the clutch control knob which is at the bottom left side of machine looking from the front.
It should rotate to drive position when handle is pulled back.

If it doesnt turn the knob by hand to drive & try the machine.

If you still have no brush rotation after doing all this then UNPLUG machine from mains supply.
Now lay machine on its side & remove the sole plate, This is the cover over the brush roller.
Turn the 3 plastic screws to unlock postition & lift sole plate off.

Now try to yurn brush roller using your hand. It should turn freely if it is difficult to turn look for any foriegn object obstructing the roller.

If no obstruction found then remove the brush roller from the machine & check the bearings in the ends of the brush roller one or both may be siezed up if they are then new brush roller will solve the problem.

If bearings are good then either the clutch is faulty or the second belt which goes clutch to motor has snapped & will need replacing.

It is difficult to fully explain the clutch removing procedure,
But there are service manuals available for these repairs at this site
