SOURCE: not running programs downloaded

please check the file extension,

if it's .exe(if no icons show up for the game ), mac may not support it directly, you will have to download cross over chromium from here
www.codeweavers.com/services/ports/chromium/

it doesn't guarantee that the exe will work, since mac uses .app instead of .exe

How to turn off dos mode

Macs don't run on DOS, the only way to use DOS or Windows on a Mac is through an emulator. You may want to have a tech look at your computer.

I am trying to download a game off the internet, it goes into TextEdit and says this program can't be run during DOS mode. What do I do?

DOS was on PCs before Windows (and still is, kind of). So, you need a PC - or emulation software on your Mac such as Parallels or Boot Camp (free with your Mac). You'd need a copy of Windows as well, though.

I have a apple mac and when i want to downloading a game or something,it cant.Because of the dos mode how do i get it off on a laptop apple mac? P.S. Sorry for the bad english

There is no DOS in Apple's Operating System. You need to ensure that you are downloading a valid application for the Mac. These applications are usually .app, .dmg, .pkg files.
Look to see if the place where you are downloading the game has a Mac version available.

How do you turn off DOS mode on a 13" MacBook Pro?

Is this a trick question? There is no "DOS mode" on a MacBook Pro.
Do you have WIndows installed as part of Boot Camp, and your machine is booting into Windows? To boot back into the Mac, either use the Boot Camp control panel in Windows, or hold down the Option key after you hear the startup chime and select the OS X partition to boot from.

How can i download stuff on my macbook, it says cannot run dos mode, and chinese letters what should i do so i can dowload imesh ?

Unless you have installed a Windows emulator like Parallels or Bootcamp, you cannot easily run .exe files on your Mac with a Mac OS. It will not run dos mode in Mac OS.
You can:
1. Install an emulator.
2. Try Winebottler. It's in beta, but it creates stand alone apps for Mac OS 10.6 from Windows apps.

Mac OS will run some Chinese characters. It is available as a language pack directly from Apple's website, including Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean.

If you are running OSX, .exe files are windows only, there is no DOS mode in this OS.

Wen i download a file and then try to open the file it just keeps sayin this program cant be run in dos mode how do i fix it

Does the file end in .exe?
It sounds like you have downloaded a Windows executable to a Macintosh system, and when you click on it it opens in the text editor, which displays the binary contents of the program, which usually contains the message "This program cannot be run in DOS mode."
Windows executables cannot be run on Macintosh computers unless you have also installed Windows, either under Boot Camp or under a virtual machine monitor such as Parallels or Fusion.

I need to download a program that requires windows and my computer says the program wont run in dos mode how do i get it to work?

if the program requires windows that means it was design to work with windows and not with DOS.. you may want to get an old version of the program that will actually run under DOS.. usually you may be able to do the opposite which is to run DOS program on windows.

if possible try to get a DOS version of the program you are trying to run, or better.. upgrade your operating sytem so you can run your program and possibly other DOS programs.

post the program you are looking to download and confirm what operation system you're running and I'll try to look for it with you.
