I have a brilliant Kenwood KA-3020 amp which I have had for over 20 years and love, connected to some equally good Tannoy speakers. Recently the speaker only works on the right, the left one comes on and off or I just get static noise. Its not the speakers I have checked, definately the amp. Any suggestions?

the outputs should be replaced in pairs, there are 2 to 4 pairs, but you sould only need 1 pair replaced. these transistors typically range between 10 to 30 cdn each + labour, look for 1 to 1.5h to replace & test the unit after repair. check your local repair shop for their rates. good luck

The amp will reset every time it's turned off. The red light flashing, instead of staying constant is a warning that one of the protection circuits are activated. If the amp is bridged wrong, it can do this. If the load impedance is too low, it can also do this... don't trust the speaker, it it says 4-ohm, it may actually be 3.8-ohm, which could cause a problem if two speakers are wired in parallel. If it's not getting enough power, it will turn off briefly, but will turn back on after a second. A capacitor is not necessary with this, just use 4 gauge cable and have a good battery... make sure the ground is good, that one is commonly ignored.

if you are using RCAs as inputs to your amp.Swap the R to L @ RCAs to see if its comming in okay from radio. If both RCAs have audio then amp is bad ,If amp has any type of switches , move swithces to see if it comes back .Also if both RCAs inputs have audio .Move the RCAs when connected on amp to see if amp has bad connection in board to RCA jacks..If audio comes back on bad side when jack is moves .Then you have bad solder joints on board..If not then you must have bad outputs on amp..

make sure your rca andpower/remote wires are ran on seperate side of your car.it maybe recieving some kind of interference from the alternator. try buying higher shielded wiring too

Apparently it won't let me log in. Anyhow... I'm pushing voltage. The light is flashing, not flickering. How can I replace the transistors?
