I have a Latitude D600 laptop. When I plug in my headphones, the sound still plays through the built in speakers. When I twist the plug in the jack I can sometimes get sound in the headphones but it still...

I dont think the JACK is the problem, I suspect a bad headphone wire (intermittent) or an incorrect driver, headphone jacks in laptops are software controlled, (no mechanical switch inside) if you hear sound in both the headphones and the speakes it is a driver issue, try updating the driver, if the headphone wire is erratic it can fool the software that controlls the input and do crazy things also...

Good luck!

Whenever i plug in both the headphone and the mic, it randomly disconnects my headset speakers and doesnt even pick up my mic. When i plug in just the headphone i hear sounds but it doesnt pick up mic....

You have to firstly test your head phones on another computer.... If it works in another computer than firstly update your anti virus program and then re install your drivers.... If it does not solve the problem you can re plug the cable of sound card on mother board... If problem does not solved than your sound card might have problem.

Cant hear anything when i answer the phone . the person ringing me can hear fine.

In order to check your mobiles capability to modulate sound just put your headphone. If you are able to hear the speech through headphone then the problem is with your speaker. If unable to get the speech the problem is with main pcb itself and to repair that you will have to go to service center it will be costly but if you are able to hear through headphone then it will be cheap.

Cant get sound through my headphones when i plug it in my computer

You need to check the headphone jack on the case before you try to use it again. It may have a wiring problem, Shutting down the computer is a serious problem and could do a lot of damaged to windows program and you computer. The way to reset the case headphone jack is to go int the control panel and search for the sound control device. go to the advanced options and put in the type of device you want the sound to come from. There is also the possibility that the headphone jack was damaged when you had your problem and will no longer function correctly. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Cant hear songs

It sounds like your headphone/hold cable is faulty. Try plugging it into a sound device with a docking bay. If no sound comes out of there either then it's a faulty logic board.

Dell 610 lptop - haedphone not working,

First try uninstalling the sound drivers from the device manager, then reboot. It will find and reinstall them, then check Dell's support site for updated sound drivers. If you find updated drivers you will need to use the update button for the device in the device manager. If this doesn't work, then it may be a faulty headphone jack. The jack should override the speakers when the headphones are plugged into it. If you can still hear the speakers with the headphones plugged in then the jack is faulty and needs replaced. If the jack does override the speakers or if you get some static then it could be that the jack has come loose or has a loose or broken wire. The only other thing is try a different set of headphones, sometimes laptops get picky and one set will work and yet another set may not.

Cannot hear music

The bad news is that your headphone jack is most likely shot. The soldered connections inside are most likely broken. This is not repairable generally, at least not for a cost that would be reasonable. Music will play through your computer because it can be read off your player through the USB connection. Use it as a data storage drive and buy a new one, or a used one. I've seen used T30s on Amazon for around $30 to $40.
