Thank you first of all for the reply.
I had already tried that but the problem is that my windows XP
operating system is in dutch, and I want to change the operating system to
english.
I want to avoid if possible reinstaling from an outside disk because I dont have a
utility disk with the drivers.
If not all the above is possible, is there anywhere on the web that I can find
a utilities driver disk so as not to have to instal the drivers one at a time?
The exact model is IBM Thinkpad R40 2722 PC Notebook.
Thank you in advance for any information.
If you have access to a Windows XP operating system that is the same (Home or Professional) that you have on the system now, you can boot from the operating system disk. Then when it comes up select to do an Install, Install will always ask you the language, so select English. Also Once you hit F8 agreeing to the product licensing agreement it will search your system to see if a version of windows xp already exists. It will find your old version then you can select R to repair the old version. Repair will not cause you to lose any data, docs, music, pics, videos or programs. Repair will not require you to reload the drivers either. But if you ever needed the drivers you can get them by googling Lenovo Support and select your model and operating system. I would download the Network driver first because once you have it, you can connect to the internet and download the others at your leisure. In fact I would download the Network Drivers before you even attempted to do any of the language conversion just as a fail safe measure.
Finally the only way for me was to install from a XP operation system and now it is in english as I wanted it to be. I have downloaded the drivers but I cant/ dont know how to install them. the thing is I dont know in which folder to look. Although I went to a folder that was designated to me, and tried to run the exe file but there was an error telling me that the file could not be found or something. Is there anywhere I could find so I can download the rescue and driver disks so it can be done automatically? I would be much obliged.
Sorry for before, I should have thanked everybody for their input. Thankyou. I do have a shortage in money so it is quite difficult to get even that short amount, because it goes to paying bills etc, and that is why I am asking if there is somewhere I can download it for free.
Drivers are free from IBM Lenovo's site. Try the link below and select your model number for the R40. http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/download... If you are using Internet Explorer to download the drivers, you can select where you want to save the drivers and uncheck the box that says 'close after downloading' so that you can run the saved driver. You can also just go to the folder where the driver was saved if you noticed the location path. If you noticed the driver name, you can just do a search for it by clicking on Start/My Computer then Right Click on your C: Local Disk drive and select Search. Type in the name of the driver and it will find it no matter where it exists on your hard drive.
Thank you, I will try it.
