Using Computer Setup (F10)

You can only open Computer Setup by turning on the workstation or restarting the system. To access the
Computer Setup Utilities menu:
1
Turn on or restart the workstation.
Press the F10 key as soon as the monitor light turns green.
2
If you do not press the F10 key at the appropriate time, you must try again. Turn the workstation
NOTE
off, then on again, and press the F10 key again to access the utility.
Select your language from the list and press Enter. In the Computer Setup Utilities menu, four
3
headings are displayed: File, Storage, Security, and Advanced.
4
Use the arrow (left and right) keys to select the appropriate heading. Use the arrow (up and down)
keys to select the option you want, then press Enter.

Goodluck :)

SOURCE: How to enter to zx6000's BIOS?

You can get the manuals for this product online at HP's site. I am looking at the Operation And Maintenance Guide for HP Workstation zx6000 HP Server rx2600 right now. in .pdf format. but there is nothing in there about this problem. I would suggest downloading it though, 27MB manual with a wealth of information on it! There is also a startup guide. and other manuals.

What OS are you running on this machine? Is it windows or linux?

If you can get to a command line > sudo /sbin/hwclock --set --date "08/04/2000 08:33:25"

replace the date and time with todays date and time of coarse but I found that little gem of info on the web. I hope it helps.

SOURCE: i have hp dv4-1465dx, how to reset bios without having OS

Hello,

Was Windows 7 the operating system that came with

your System? If not, What I would advise you to do

is this:

Check HP website to find out if your Laptop supports

Windows 7.

If it doesn't, then I would advise you to

PLEASE change it back to the operating system

that came with your system, or better still, the

operating system that it supports.

The reason is because that is exactly what I faced

two weeks ago....

I changed the operating system for my PC to

Windows 7 ( Even though it doesn't support it)...it

worked fine for a while, then later it started to develop

faults after a while...like stuttering, mouse pointer

moving round the screen, graphics displaying

improperly...etc.

I first thought it wasn't a big deal, so I fixed it by

repairing the drivers, and it worked fine once again...

After using that same crack that you said you used,

I started getting "Multiple Hardware Error"!

It would just Power on, Show HP Logo, Show

Wireless LAN indicator Led ON, and It will freeze

there. I could not even enter the BIOS.

In short ....Now as I'm typing, the system is

with HP Service Centre for they have to change the

Mainboard Outrightly!

So PLEASE, if your system was not specified

Windows 7, use the Operating Systems that it

supports.

Then go to HP Website and download the original

BIOS settngs for your Laptop then repair your

system with it.

But if it is the one that came with it, then let me know

so as to tell you some quick fixes.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck and thanks for using fixya!

How to update bios

To find the current BIOS version, follow the steps below:
  1. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS screen by pressing the F1 or F10 key at the first screen.
  2. Write down the BIOS revision number from the Main page. You will use this number to see if HP has a later version available.
    1. Go to the HP Software download page
    2. If you are presented with a page to enter your model number, type in your model number. For example, Pavilion p6230f or TouchSmart 600-1050uk.
    3. Select the version of Windows the computer is using.
    4. Click the BIOS link.
      • If a BIOS update is not listed, HP does not have a BIOS update posted for your computer at this time.
      • If there are several BIOS updates available for different motherboard names, you need to find out what motherboard is installed in your computer. To do this, turn off the power to the computer, remove the side panel, and read the name printed on the motherboard. The name of the motherboard should match or be similar to the name of the download link.
      • If a BIOS update is listed, continue to the next step to download and install the BIOS update.

Click the download link. The instructions for downloading and installing BIOS updates vary. For most computers with Windows XP, download the file, open it and follow the on-screen instructions. For many computers before Windows XP, save the downloaded file to the hard drive, insert a formatted disk, open the downloaded file to copy the BIOS files to the disk, and then restart the computer with the disk still in the drive. The instructions on the download page may be different so carefully read and follow the instructions on the download page and in the installation setup screens. If a 251 or CMOS Checksum error occurs after installing the BIOS update, perform the following steps:
        1. Restart the computer and enter the BIOS screen by pressing the F1 or F10 key at the first screen.
        2. Press the F5 key to load the default BIOS configuration.
        3. Select YES by using the arrow keys, and then press Enter .
        4. Press the F10 key to save the settings and exit.
        5. Select YES by using the arrow keys, and then press Enter .
When the BIOS update is complete, the new BIOS revision number is updated on the Main BIOS screen.

Laptop hp nx6320 keyboard f2 key is only working. f1 and f10 key is not responding so that I can't save memory upgradation option nor open the setup.

Have you tried "Delete" to enter the "Bios Settings"? If not this must be the shortcut for your laptop, since most compaqs' Bios settings are accessed with "del" key. Actually for Hp compaq laptops, F1, F2, F10 and Delete keys are the shortcuts. (varies with series/models).
If this doesn't help, try Fn+F1, Fn+F2, Fn+F10 etc..

Good luck.

Computer bios

Most systems today you can enter the BIOS with pressing F2 at boot. Some use F1, F10 or Del to enter setup (It should be on the screen at boot which key to enter setup) Once in BIOS navigate to the wireless device and see if it is Enabled

You can also look at the Function Keys, as most portables have a Fn + functin key combination to enable wireless (look for a radio tower Icon on a Fn Key, With Dell it is Fn+F2 not sure on HPs)
