External DVD won't play - no manual available anywhere

We turned the TV to channel 3, got a blue screen, but the DVD wouldn't play. Don't have the manual, so don't know what we're doing wrong.

I've connected the video and audio rca plugs to the back of the dvd player and tv and all I get is a static screen. I know the dvd player works and all I find in the menu screen for the tv is cable/air imput. Are the rca imputs only on aux and if so where is aux?

The tv has a set of imputs for audio and video ,there is a posibility your dvd is not working right, you can also try a vcr by using the rca audio and video outputs of the vcr to the rca audio and video imputs of the tv,that will tell you if the dvd is not working ,the tv should have a switch selector for video and antena or have a channel below 1 called aux.

Hi I have a l32wd12 r a TV and it will not turn on

If the clock is on then the unit is receiving power; maybe the external input feature (which tells the TV which outside source to display on the screen, e.g. cable TV, DVD player, VCR player, etc.) is not set to display the TV channels. On my Sony TV there is a button that displays TV setting options (e.g., Favorites, TV List, External inputs and settings). The external inputs function displays the options as video 1, video 2, etc., right up to video 6. My video 3 is for the VCR, video 4 is for the DVD, and video 5 is for the cable TV channels. If the TV is set for say video 3 and nothing is playing on the VCR, the screen will be dark (almost as though the TV is off). Your solution might be as simple as choosing the right external (video) input for the TV to receive the channel signals.

I don't know how to tune the digital channels in my vcr. I can automatically tune channel 2, 9, 10, etc but not 7mate, 99Go etc

If your unit does not state DVB anywhere, either in the manual, or on the unit itself, and there are no options to tune in digital services via the menu on screen (as well as no EPG), chances are the tuner in it is analogue only, hence why you cannot tune digital channels in it. To receive all SD/HD digital channels, you would need to connect an external set top box to the recorder's AV inputs, and record/view them that way. (Set top boxes are cheaper than upgrading TVs and DVD equipment in many cases).

The only positive point here is it didn't cost you a workshop repair fee or a new unit - the user manual as a pdf for this model is available on FixYa if needed.

I don't have cable TV, so do I need just an antenna or a digital converter box to be able to watch this TV. The Make & Model # is: TOSHIBA LCD TV/DVD Combination & 27HLV95

The TV has NTSC (analog), ATSC (digital) and a ClearQAM (digital unencrypted) tuners. So you do not need a converter box. However, digital TV signals are either all or nothing (sufficient signal for the tuner to process the signal or a no signal message will appear). You should check antennaweb.org or tvfool.com for the channels that are available in your location depending on how the antenna is pointed. (Hills, tall buildings and trees may decrease the channels available in your location.) Antennaweb is very conservative in the list of available channels and assumes an external antenna. TVfool.com provides a list of channels (in each direction) depending on the type of antenna you have. (Indoor antennas usually don't get as much signal as external ones.) Antennas for sale have a color rating that matches the colors given by TVfool.

The manual for the 27HLV95 is available from Toshiba as a PDF: http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/tacpassets-images/models/27hlv95/docs/27hlv95_om_e.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(antennaweb.org indicates that my location will only receive two channels from a transmitter 10 miles away. With an external antenna, I actually get 10 (including the sub-channels) with the majority from transmitters 30 miles away.)

How do you get DVD picture to show up? Power is

You DO NOT use "Channels" to View a DVD player it usually connected to the AV External input. via AV, Yellow, (Video) Red & White, (Audio) or Component Video, Blue, Red & Green. (Video) + Red & White (Audio). These are selected via the External Inputs.

Rca 20F514TD blue screen

What to do if you have an all snowy picture (blue screen or the TV displays unusable signal-no signal or no sync)
1 – If you are using a digital cable box or satellite receiver (make sure it’s on) and be sure your TV is set for either CH3 or CH4 (which ever you usually view it on). If you usually view it through video inputs (video1 or 2 etc.) make sure the appropriate input is selected.
If you still don’t get a signal see if you get picture using the DVD or VCR (if available) if you do than plug the satellite or Dig. Box temporarily into the place of the DVD (unplug DVD) you may have to use some A/V cables (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) to hook to the tv from the sat./dig. box. If you get a signal then the sat./dig box is ok. If not the Sat./dig box is not sending a signal and is either defective or needs to be rebooted (unplug wait 5 min try again).
2 – If you are using standard cable or antenna (source) if possible check that the source is good by connecting to another TV. Otherwise try running the source into a VCR and then out to the TV using video inputs (RCA yel./red/wht like the ones on the DVD) and then selecting the appropriate input. Try seeing if the VCR plays using standard CH3 (or CH4)
If the VCR plays on video input but not when connected to CH3 (CH4) then the tuner of the TV may be defective – see if you can use the VCR to change channel using the VCR remote.
Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

You don't say what TV you have so it's impossible for me to guess what the connection it is that you are using. You will not see a signal on any of the channels you will need to select AV or Mode or Input or something similar on the TV

It does not display or play

You have to run a search of available channels on the DVD recorder through the setup menu. After the recorder has located all available channels, make sure the TV is on the correct input. (Video 1, Video 2 or whatever)
If all else fails, then read the manual. HaHa
