I have a flatiron monitor that is attached to my laptop. It was working fine; after I was away for two weeks, monitor starts into windows but then immediately goes into power saving mode and image defaults to my laptop screen.
I have an LG W2261V, and an old Sharp LL-T19D1-H. The PC runs both just fine, and the PSU has plenty of power. Unfortunately the LG handles power save mode very differently, where the LG would not switch on after entering this mode unless reset (unplugged, PC rebooted, etc). Extremely frustrating, as the old Sharp never had any problems exiting its own power save mode. The LG would enter this mode based on the monitor power settings (in whatever power scheme you are using) in the screensaver tab in display properties. I fixed this by selecting "Never" for "the Turn off monitor" property. I guess this is a warning to those who may wish to buy a new LG monitor, but want to use a power scheme to turn off the monitor.
I had the same problem on LG monitor too. the problem started when I accidentally bump my computer's desk. i can not see anything on my monitor because my monitor went automatically into power saving mode and i can not fix the problem with the keyboard or mouse because i don't have any PS2 on my CPU. WHen I try to open my CPU there will be this beep sound twice. So I try to check and reinstalled the memory and the VGA card and it miraculously make my computer active again. I hope my experience will be useful to the others.
It's an LCD so the problem is most likely the back-light inverter board. Take a flashlight and shine it directly into the screen from the front. Can you see the image on the screen now? If the image is there but you can't see it without the flashlight than the inverter board needs to be replaced. This is a VERY common problem. Good Luck and let me know what happens, His Dudeness
When it have this kind of error is a problem of the powerboard.
Anyway you must open it and look at the all capacitors and if are them inflated, if them are inflated must change them.
But can be a problem with inverters... control the transistors - MOSFET on the powerboard.

Excuse me but if you cant SEE anything on your monitor (because your pc is in power save mode) how on earth are you supposed to right-click to check the settings? scratching my head over this one.
My samsung 19" Syncmaster 920NW monitor is connected to analog port in my hp pavilion laptop.After the windows xp logo and loading,the monitor screen goes blank and the power LED blinks.The display functions normally on booting up in VGA mode (640X480).It functions normally on safe mode (800X600).In the normal mode,the screen goes blank and the power LED flashes.But, the laptop,main LCD panel shows alright.The display adapter is Nvidia GEFOECS GS 7600.What could be the poblem.
1. Battery in the mother board is dead.

Check the display settings of your video card. This can be done by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties. Then go to the settings button and clicking advanced. All video cards are different, but there should be a tab there that will allow you to configure how you want to monitor to be utilized (mirror of laptop screen or extenstion of laptop screen). Often times, laptops have a button to toggle between modes (Example, DEll is Fn F8).

Laptops often have a function key which switches from laptop only, external monitor only, laptop & external. One of the top number keys, along with the function (fn for short) must be pressed simultaneously to step through these.
Where these keys are at, may differ from laptop to laptop.

From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel, then Power Management.
Click Standby Beside When I Push the Power Button.

Save all work before leaving your computer.
From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel.
Double-click Power Management.
Set the times that you want your system to go on standby, to shut off the monitor and to shut off the hard disks.
Click OK. Your computer will go on standby according to the schedule you have entered.
Putting Your Computer in Hibernation
From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel.
Double-click Power Settings.
Click on the Advanced tab.
At the When I Push the Power Button On My Computer screen, click Hibernate.
Click the Power button.

I bought 2 Flatron L1919S LG monitors. One for work and one for home. The one at work works 100%. When connecting the one at home it says "Power Save Mode"?? How do I get this of?

I'm having the same issue with an LG Fantasy, 19".
Upon purchasing an Xbox 360 Elite and using the monitor as it's display with a HDMI/DVI converter and my 5.1 speakers as stereo, the monitor continued to work fine on the PC upon a cable swap - until running GTAIV. It no longer functions as a PC display, automatically shifting into standy upon reaching the desktop. The BIOS and XP loading screen -do- display.
I can only assume that with these minimalistic LG products, beautiful as they are, some internal mode or setting is being altered by our actions, software or other hardware plugged into the monitor, and with the Fantasy for example, there is only ONE button on the body of the monitor, a touch sensitive power switch.
These mode switches are impossible. I'll try safemode in a few moments and if that fails, I'll take the screen to a friend's house and test cables.
My recommendation, having not yet tried more than simple, late night methods, is to plug the monitor into another computer, and if you get a display try to default the monitor's settings before plugging it back into the old computer, and trying another monitor on your old computer to reduce video settings until you isolate the issue.

Have a Flatiron (W2241T) that worked fine with an old Dell desktop. We had a power outage at home and when we started up the screen went automatically to power saving mode. Need some help.
I plugged my LG 171OS into a MAC Ibook laptop thing. screen works when connected to MAC, but as soon I plug into PC hard drive its on power save...I have read through solutions posted here, but as it just flashes "power save" then turns off, and screen is black, I am struggling to work out how to reconfigure screen blind-I can't see anything on power save. I know nothing of motherboards nor do I dare open the hard drive...surely there's a simple Control ALT delete kind of combo that will wake the damned screen up??? I am typing this on the MAC laptop without using the LG screen.

lg flatron w2052tq clicks in power saving mode for no reason i returned monitor for vnew 1 still happenbs and all my power settings set to never turn off
take out your video card and put the monitor cord (or what it's called) to the internal connected to the motherboard it works for me
