formatted my device using the PC when i got the message: "UI data miss,
connect to PC". But i realized later that the entire system files
necessary for the device to boot was also deleted. Now when the device
is connected to the PC using the USB cable, it is not recognized. I

go to the mustek site & download the software for the h140 , it is the same software as I have both units , the only problem is neither vista or windows 7 will run the software
here is a link for the - ( fox video converter ) - ive tested it on coverting video files and it does convert most formats into ASF even from MP4. http://www.foxeasy.com/fvc/
i have a copy of the pc INSallation cd fo windows 98/me2000/xp. also a zip fle of the folders on the player these you need to replace to get the player pass that the initalising screen.
1. you need to install the pc software
2. you need to connect the system to your pc via the usb cable
3. switch the system on - it should be seen as a mass storage.
4. Start PVR Console and run a disk checkup - this should run without error - run this twice.
5. Try the unit now - does it work?
6. if you still have problems you can replace the files in pvr data with the following:-

The unit will only play .ASF video files.
I don't think you'll get anysoftware to run on it as it stands as it's only a playback machine not a handheld pc.
