SOURCE: I have just purchased a Seagate 500GB Desktop hard drive

There is software preloaded on the disk. If you have AutoPlay turned off in your system, it won't start automatically when you connect the drive. Just go to MyComputer and open the drive and you will find a setup file there to install the backup software (I think it's called Launch.exe).

I had four broken DVRs of same type, I want to use their HDD in raid strip in PC, but they are DVR HDDs (Seagate Pipeline HD.2, ST3250312CS) and they are not initiable in PC. Is there any way to use them? ...

The SATA RAID interface needs to be compatible with SATA revision V2.0. Check the drives with the Seagate diagnostic tool (download it from Seagate) for correct operation. This will also check / test the SATA interface. Connect the drives directly to a PC with SATA interface to do this. If proven OK then use the RAID board.

Possibly there's a way to downgrade to SATA-1 using a Seagate tool.

Hi There I am trying to locate the raptor 3.5"

Here's your solution, I had the same problem. Purchase Thermaltake Black Widow PC Gaming Hard Drive eSata + USB Docking Station (part number: ST0005U). I got mine at Best Buy for $55, but I'm sure you can find it online for much less. Good luck - trust me this works..... oh and by the way, dont buy a SATA-to-USB cable because your USB port on your PC does not provide enough power to the hard drive and you won't be able to access your drive.

Will the ms9327e + (usb) support a SATA drive?

well it depends on what board you have.

your best bet is to look on the motherboard.

the SATA connection looks almost identical to the connection on the harddrive, so you can use that for reference.

on the harddrive you will see 2 plugs. the smaller one plugs into the motherboard and the larger one is power.

for power, power adaptors are made to convert the standard 4 pin connector to a SATA one.

System won?t recognize SATA drive

No, the size does not matter. When you state the motherboard does not see the SATA drive are you saying the bios does not list the SATA drive? You're 750GB drive is most likely SATA 2.0 / 3.00BG transfer rate.
The P4M800-M7 does support SATA but it does not support SATA 2.0. So what you need to do to get the drive to function at a lower speed. Set to run Ultra 100/133MHz. You'll need help to do this. Try this software for Seagate. It might work for Seagate.

I haven't the time to research Seagates site for simular software.
However you can look through Seagate. Again you want to lower the SATA drive speed to Ultra. The bios will than see the SATA & so will windows.
