In the customer menu first look for convergence--if this is Akai it is made by Samsung.
in the convergence menu will be either a grid of lines or several crosses--examine and see if your red line is out of position there.
If it is it may just require with the remote adjustment in that menu.
Cleaning will not resolve a red line.
let me know what you find.
i have checked the convergence screen and there is no issue with the convergence, tho i still have a virtical red line in the middle of the screen
is the "line" a short one near the middle of the screen and looks tear dropped?
This by your description points to one of a few possible things===you need to look into the lens with the set from the back I suspect either the coolant leaked inside the lens or one or more of the tubes has a burn mark on its screen---I can explain but the direct way to confirm or deny my theory is simple : with set on and back removed carefully cover each of the three lens one at a time--if I am right when you cover each one at a time the line will vanish or change where part goes away====if in all three take a little mirror so you can see into lens (it points up) to see if liquid has leaked from cooling area to top of lens.
The coolant is Glycol and can leak on the inside of the tube or convergence can cause similar issue but usually will be pronounced like three d.
If you cover any one lens and line goes try a covering of each lens or lens to see.
Ok, be prepared this may be bad, bad news.
If you uncovered the green and its back and you look in the lens and see no liquid inside look very carefully for a tiny black spot near the middle of that tube---when you look down you are looking at the screen of a small picture tube just like ones in regular tv sets but smaller.
If no liquid is present and you look carefully you will see a tiny black dot--the tube arced inside and burnt a tiny bit of the phosphor coating off the inside of the screen for that tube.
Damage is permanent and tube would have to be replaced to correct this issue.
The high voltage which is over 10,000 volts enters the side of the tube with a rubber cap and is coated with some insulating material to stop this from happening but the metal shield around the tube is close enough it can do this.
95% chance if you covered the green and it went away you have a burnt tube.
It will continue to arc and sooner or later take the set down so it is dead and damage other parts that are good now---
Sorry for bad news but that test of covering each lens one at a time almost never is wrong.
