Hi gangesh click on the start button......connect to.....go to all connections......the choose your lan connection right click and go to properties........then make sure the bottom two boxes are checked...the one that says show icon in the notification are when connected......and the one that says notify me when me i have limited connectition.

this will give the icons in the tasbar.....
now if you want to put in a manual ip address ect...then in that properties page click on tcp/ip then click the properties button....
there put in your ip and subnet mask and gateway and dns.
hope that helps.

Hi, I have reinstalled my window XP SP3 but after reinstalling window my wireless(Adapter name: dell wirless 1395 WLAN mini-card) is not working properly. I have installed latest driver on my Dell...

Verify that you have the correct type of authentication in wireless- if your router is set to WPA2, then you would have to go under the connection properties > security tab to change it to match that setup. If that does not work, then the issue may be that the wireless card is defective and starting to fail.

Wireless with red cross dosent show available network

This can happen if your wireless lan card does not have the correct drivers installed. It may also happen if your network is a hidden network.Or if the wireless protocol a/b/g/n of the network is not supported by your card.

Dell Inspiron 5100

You can try checking the BIOS first see if its disabled in the BIOS to boot to the BIOS turn on your computer Press bios2.jpg during POST to enter the system setup program.

once in the BIOS you might have a multi page view, or a one page view, look for the INTEGRATED NIC see if its enabled or disabled. just enable it and restart the system then:

download
LAN CARD DRIVER

http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R54631.EXE

see if it works. hit me back with the result.

Lan Card Icon not showing in Taskbar

I think you need to reset the setting for showing on task bar, as in de-select the option, click ok, and then go back and select to show in task bar.

If this does not work, you system tray on the taskbar may be hiding some icons.

LAN CARD ADAPTOR IS MISSING AFTER FORMATING TO XP PRO

Not sure I understand you what you mean. Let me recap:
1) Your LAN adaptor was working before you reloaded Windows XP Pro.
2) Now it’s not showing up in “Device Manager”.
If this is the case, there must be some software driver missing. Make sure there are no other devices that have an error. Double check Dell’s website at www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag", (serial number) of the laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.

Network adapter not showing up in device manager

Go to the website for your computer's manufacturer, and do a search for your computer's model number. (obviously not on the computer with the problem) There should be a section with your computer in it that has all of the specs for it. Look down this list, and the network card should be listed.. You might have to go to the card manufacturer's site for the driver, though, because most of the computer manufacturers aren't includind drivers for xp. Most card manufacturer's websites do still have xp drivers, even for the newer cards
