SOURCE: traxxas stampede the green light comes on for a second then off
All it was that the brushes were dirty, and they were stuck to the motor. The dealer gently used a screwdriver to move the bushes away from the motor a bit and let them snap back in place. Then it worked. I,m such a new R C guy.

Maybe running to lean or to rich. When you accelerate put youre hand where the exhaust is and you should get a light spraying of unburnt fuel over hands(lovely!). If you do you may be able to screw in high end needle in a bit and i mean just a bit. If you hear the engine note raise a bit with a slightly higher pitch then you are running to lean and you will want to unscrew the high end needle valve asap.
Also check youre idle screw and make sure thats not closing the carb and stopping any airflow into engine. Let me know how it goes.
SOURCE: i need to rebuild the inside of a traxxas xl-1 esc
You can send it back to Traxxas and they will repair it for $15 plus $5 shipping/handling if there is no signs of abuse. A new xl-1 esc is $60 from Traxxas.

It sounds like the esc needs programmed. The vehicle manual shows how to, or there is a video at http://www.traxxas.com/products/video/support/070911_programESC.htm.
SOURCE: vxl-3s velineon problem with speed control
mine did exactly the same thing, I didnt realize something was wrong until I put my heat monitor on it, first was 127 c then jumped to 175, before I could unplug everything it went "pop" . traxxis said send it back for repairs (50bucks ugh) .
I am not going to run Li Po (the 11.1 volt anyway) . I dont think the esc is strong enough, I will let you know what traxxis says.
