Browser doesnt load page

Even when my reception is at the highest and 3g is shown I can't get the browser to load the pages. I would type in the url but the screen just remains white. I turned off the phone and waited a few then turned it back on, then it would be able to load sites. But shortly after it fails again.

    I also get this white screen. It appears the page is loading, but once the page loads to the phone it doesnt display. If I turn the phone off and restart it, the browser will work again temporarily, maybe for two or three pages then the same thing happens.

Just like a computer browser, whenever you browse the internet, the G1 will download images, text, passwords, etc from all sites accessed. it places this info in a place called a 'Cache'....it can get so full it will prevent pages from loading. to fix this, clear your cache. there are 2 ways to do this.....

1: MENU > SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > MANAGE APPLICATIONS > BROWSER > CLEAR DATA

2: BROWSER > MENU > MORE > SETTINGS > SELECT CLEAR CACHE, CLEAR HISTORY, CLEAR ALL COOKIE DATA, CLEAR PASSWORDS

after doing that, turn off and on the handheld and try it again. if you keep up on doing this everytime youre done browsing the web, it wont happen again.

good luck :)

How come when I put www.google.com in web address it comes up saying "error 404( not found)?

When you are using the Internet and your browser displays a 404 error, it has been able to communicate with the server that hosts the Web page but the page (or file) does not exist on the server.
This may be due to an old link or bookmark or a typing error but the website owner may also have permanently removed the file or page from the website or changed the URL.
The following steps can help you remedy user errors or locate the page, if it still exists.

Check that you typed the correct URL into the address bar.
If you made a typing mistake, fix it and press "Enter" to go to the correct page.
Click the Reload button in your browser or press "F5" on the keyboard to refresh the page if you believe the URL to be correct.

Press the "F5" and the "Control" keys simultaneously to instruct your browser to ignore any cached data for the Web page and perform a complete refresh, if normal refresh does not work.
Load the main page of the website in your browser, instead of the specific page, and use the navigation links or search bar to locate the page you wish to visit.

Microsoft 7.19

You can assign any page you desire on the browser. Example IE is Tools > Internet Options. Enter URL. You can even have multiple home sites that load per tab. Note some apps and sites will high jack your settings.

Every browser is different, but same principle applies.

I want to remove bing and return my browser to google default page and restore the tool bar on top of same. thanks BV

I assume your browser currently has a Bing search page as the default (home) page, which displays when Firefox launches. You can reset Firefox to use any web address as the home page.

Here are the steps:
(1) In the browser, go to Tools > Options > General
(2) In the field labeled "home page", type the URL of the page you wish to use. (For a basic Google search page, the URL would be "http://www.google.com/" For a basic Bing search page, the URL would be "http://www.bing.com/")
(3) Then click "OK" at the bottom
novaweb_4.gif

There's also a shorthand way to do this:
(1) First, go to the web page you wish to use as your new home page.
(2) Move your mouse to the icon in the address bar (near top of the browser), and then drag the icon over to the "home" button.

For more on setting the Firefox home page, see this help page from Mozilla.

My home page has defaulted to one I do not want. How can I reset it back.

Which Internet Browser are you using? Well let me give you instructions for three browsers;

1. Internet Explorer, here I am going to set www.google.com as the home page.
Open the Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options, (click on the general tab if another tab is opened) type in www.google.com as shown below;

and Click Ok, now restart the Internet Explorer and click Home button or by default the Home page will open up.

2. Google Chrome,

[you can also select "show home button on the toolbar, so that i'll show up on the toolbar of the googlechrome]
Now Restart googlechrome or click "Home" button, without any problem, google.com will open.
3. Mozilla Firefox.
Open Firefox > Tools > Options > Main > then type in select "show my home page" from > type in www.google.com in the home page box and then click "Ok" as shown below;

I dont have a home page anymore the screen said dell v14 msn can't find server.

This error means that the browser could not find the page that was setup as the homepage in the browser settings could not be found. May be because the laptop is not connected to the internet or the homepage URL is spelt wrongly and there exists no such URL. What you do is to open the browser and go to Tools->Internet Options. Here right on top you would find Home Page. Type the URL here. Alternatively, access a page and when it has opened fully, go to Tools->Options and here set this page as home page.

Screen shaking

Oddly enough a simple solution that seems to work about 50% of the time is hiding the toolbar in your windows browser where the only bar left is the URL bar (the bar that you type addresses into)

It seems to be a java error where even a single pixel is different from what the java is trying to load thus trying to fix the error it shakes until the page finishes loading.

If this doesnt work let me know and i will look into it further
