I have no charge within the battery. When I place the camera onto the charging cradle, the red light will illuminate solidly for about 3-5 secon then begin to flash. Irrespective of how long I attempt to charge, the battery does not gain any charge.

I jus called the Casio Customer Service number 1-800-706-2534 and they offered me a new battery for free. My camera is less than one year old and I had the same problem with charger and the red flashing light. Don't let then tell you that you have tu buy a new battery. They tried they same with me and I called againg and somebody else offered me the free battery. Apparently there was a problem with this batteries and the company is well aware, therefore they should provide you with a new battery. Don't give up!

Hi I am Vortah The red light is usually an indicator that the battery is charged however in this instance as you are saying it isn't the battery has possibly gone short and you will need to replace the batteries . They have a type of internal memory and only charge a certain amount of times before they no longer accept charge and merely overheat during charging .. But I have to say it may be possible the charger is faulty as if the internal rectifier that charges the battery has gone short that may also bring the red light on in some chargers .. so try the battery or as I would do take it along to your nearest dealers and get them to check it . it may save you money in the long run you could be buying a battery you still cant use when you actually need a charger .. Hope this helps regards Vortash

I found this while trying to solve my exact same problem.. It worked for me after about 7 times. Some other people on the site said it worked for them after 20 times. Good luck!
My NP 20 gave me the flashing red light of death and I got Casio to replace it. Then I had the same problem with my second NP 20 so I dug around for a way to fix it and I found the following advice on a site called FixYa. It worked instantly and I didn't risk ruining my battery.

I had the same problem as this.
what i did was...
i kept putting the battery on the charger then took it off as soon as the red light came on.
i did this about 6 times.
doing this puts a bit of charge in the battery each time before the charger starts to flash.
after the battery as got enough charge in it it can start to charge.
hope this helps.

I did the same thing as Hartwe1l, although I didn't tilt it up so high. I just held the battery tight against the contacts and lifted it a little bit, got a steady red light, held it there for a minute, and presto...continuous red light. I'm assuming it's charging...so far, so good! Thanks hartwe1l.
